Yes I suppose so

Lovely tin by the way OP. :-D

It may actually go up in price in @ Month's time though mind?, so ... Perhaps also worth baring that in mind too?. :-)

I have about 12 tins to buy for carers,I did see the 1.2 kg tin at Sainsburys today for £7.50 but this is a nice tin that would be good as a gift and works out cheaper too,I shall wait for a month before I buy though,I'm sure they wont run out in store unless anyone thinks otherwise, thanks OP

Nice for the tin, think it works out slightly cheaper than the two plastic tubs for £7 too

In todays Express an article on shrinkflation and stealth cheapening "Quality Street maker Nestle cut the standard tin from 1kg to 820 gms while keeping the price at £5 in 2012. Then again in 2014 it was cut again to 780 gms (wrapped weight) for the same £5 And this does not even take into account the sweets they discontinued in favour of ones that I imagine are cheaper to produce as they are nowhere near as nice as the ones they did away with.

I'm holding out for the Heroes ;)

Nestle... isn't that the company run by Dr. Evil?

Actually... Quality Street isn't much more expensive than it used to be. We subjected my daughter to the 1983 Woolies advert on Youtube and spotted a 3lb jar of Quality Street for £5. Bargain! Fast forward to 2018 (35 years later) and a 720g tub is £3.50 on offer in Tesco. So they've gone from about £4 a kilo to £7 a kilo. Bear in mind that in 1983 a pint of milk cost 21p, a pint of lager cost 93p, a loaf cost 38p... Quality Street got off lightly. I have a 2kg tin from the early 80s that I fill with 3 tubs of Quality Street and bore all of the kids with tales of the past :)

You are absolutely correct, Quality Street is the example I give my kids of shrinkflation, they are too young to remember what a tin of Quality Street used to be like, they only know the shrunk down plastic tub with the shrunk down and cheapened contents. They don't remember the big metal tins with the beautiful artwork and the quality contents, my favourite was the Cracknel which is sadly long done away with. Roses are the exact same and I no longer buy them either but also due to all the promises that were renaged on when Kraft took over Cadbury.
