A few years ago Lafuma moved from the elastic holding on the seating to a ‘clip’ system, this system uses plastic clips that are sewn to the seat fabric and clip under the frame, the only problem is that these plastic strips seem to come away from the fabric over time and teh thread breaks, I have 6 of these chairs with the clip system and two of them have failed, its a pain as the customer services, although a UK number, are based near the South of France, I have been waiting since September last year for two replacement seat bases, with the elastic you could just replace that, but with the clip system its the whole lot less the frame that needs replaced. They are great chairs but something in the plastic is cutting the thread, maybe I have just been unlucky but no getting around that if it does rip its a whole new seat cover required.
Obviously a good deal compared to the John Lewis price. But wow, I didn't know they made chairs that expensive that still look so similar in design (though not quality) to the normal ones. Heat from me though, but you'll definitely get frost bite from the usual lot on here!
Bought one a few weeks ago and questioned myself at the time but don't regret it one bit. Scarily comfy, classy and quality. Only problem was the weather.
Buy a zero gravity chair for £30 and stick a recliner cushion on it.
