Covid vaccination - window closes 30 June 2023 for those who haven't had 1st or 2nd dose....?

Posted 6th Jun 2023
If someone hasn't yet had their first jab, and with the window closing on 30th June 2023 to walk-in / book an appointment for one, does anyone know what happens to the 2nd dose?

Do they just not get one after their 1st jab until the autumn booster?

If they have their first jab in the few days, and bearing in mind the 8 week gap between 1st and 2nd doses, that'll be after 30 June 2023.

Why would you consider getting one now? and also as far as i'm aware they are only offereed to over 75s or people with health issues now.

That's what the nurse said when she visited our house to give my mother her vaccination, mum had one developed in France, the nurse wasn't even allowed to have one.

Sorry if I'm missing some important [possibly medical] reason, but if they haven't had one in all this time - why is having one now (at the end of it all) suddenly a consideration? FOMO ?

Depends if you are over 50 with health problems.

Have you got health problems & over 50?

Am I causing any issues for myself with travel, holidays etc if I’ve only had 1 jab or does all that not matter with travelling anymore?

I do not think it matters anymore. No travel companies or countries are asking for proof of vacination or requesting a test etc as far as I am aware. Double check though before booking anything. In all the holidays that I have looked for recently not one has asked.

You'd need to ask your GP or 111 for specific advice, but there are option for single-dose COVID vaccines, as well as private-issue vaccinations.

Looks like you'll only be able to have the 1st

Op how do you know there will be an Autumn booster? I haven't heard it being announced anywhere. I presume it will happen with the flu vaccine.
