Mattress Recommendations

Posted 2nd Aug 2023
Morning All,

We have come to the conclusion that our current mattress is too hard and contributing to sore body's in the mornings.

Currently looking for a new mattress and was looking for any recommendations for a softer mattress that doesn't cost the earth.

Were going to look at a mattress shop today but was hoping for any personal recommendations from you kind folk so I may get a better deal online.

Any help would be appreciated

There are quite a few discussion threads on here about mattresses that may help

I went to my local Dreams store and used their Sleepmatch "machine"

That will give you an idea of which mattress is right for you

They do have a sale on some matresses at the moment

Have you consider a topper? It might solve the problem.

Hi All, I think I'm looking for a king size at max £500 I know that's not a great deal in today's money but there looks to have been some good deals under.

I've got 2 mattress toppers on the one I have now which just makes me sweat and no benefit.

Good idea about the machine in Dreams, there is one not too far so would be worth dropping in

I will see if I can find the discussions on mattresses

Pocket sprung, double sided, traditional tufted, i.e. no foam

look in John Lewis, but a really comfy John Lewis one is more than 500.

    foam=sweat (edited)

I personally find Relyon to make excellent quality mattresses. My first Relyon lasted 10 years despite being a big lump. In between Relyon mattresses I had a Myers and it lasted less than 5 years before it started sagging badly. I prefer mattresses with natural fillings as I find them cooler.

    Size/budget?

I'm looking for a King size mattress at the moment as well. Have had a Relyon double on another bed for years and can't fault it, but current prices are very high. May still go for Relyon unless I find an alternative that is much cheaper.

I love my Memory foam mattresses (upgraded from a double to a King).
But some people don't like them.

Trouble is the more modern ones aren't as good. I bought the same brand as my double which stays fairly firm, but the king size is version five of the memory foam and starts to soften after a while - well has a softer spot in the middle. I'm trying to stay on the side at the moment to see if that will also soften up.

I complained to customer services but they just kept making excuses to get out of replacing it.
Trouble is I don't know which brand is any better now. Emma mattresses are the same, my brand is Ergoflex.

I bought an Ergoflex Mattress and currently returning it. The thing with memory foam mattresses is that they need body head to soften up and what I've noticed is that when used with the mattress protector and a bed sheet, it's hard as rock and does not have any give in it! I'm in the same trouble and I can't find a decent mattress, maybe it's just age and I'm getting old...

Its a hot mess subject imo, best to go instore and test a few out only your back and bum can tell if it prefers this mattress or not and buying online and then not liking it and trying to return it is certainly not nice done it myself a few times its just not worth the hassle.
