My wife likes watching all sorts of nature, birds, seals etc. As a birthday present I am considering buying a pair of binoculars for her. I have just spoken to my FIL who has a pair of Avalon 10x42, costing £195, which I was impressed by, however had nothing to compare to. For compactness I was considering the 8x32 cost £160. I was hoping to pay less (typical ) however I'm happy to pay that amount as long as they are good quality/good value, and waterproof.
So any advice, recommendations welcome.
TIA.

As already mentioned; the Nikon Prostaff 3s are a fairly cheap, great quality set.
I have their 8x32, but in hindsight might have been happier with the 10x42.
If your wife is happy with the weight of the 10x42, then stick with that, as it is naturally a drop in magnification.
