Thanks, I'd be putting it on a stand. Shame the smaller models don't have full ambilight.

How do you change the backlight? Can’t seem to find this in the menu settings. Also the whathifi article talks about switching off eco picture mode from the advanced section - unfortunately can’t find this either.

Appreciate any help with the settings!
Would love it in black, but not a deal breaker .... but does it have a Plex app

Just set this TV up and very impressed (can't believe I'm saying this but it blows my FHD Panny Plasma out of the water! ). Love ambilight too, really adds to the viewing experience.

PS denepalmer, where would I look in order to answer your question?
Anyone know if this supports full 4:4:4 chroma? Looking for a 40"ish 4k set to use as a dual purpose Monitor and TV. Thanks
I'd like to know about input lag too.
One of the Argos reviews says it suffers from terrible input lag making it impossible to play fast games on. I googled it and there is a discussion on the Phillips site. Just wanted to know from the hukd tv critics if this is the case or if something else is going on like those people got dud panels?

The input lag is VERY high for this TV, even in game mode. I had bought this partly to play PC games (with controller) when not using it as a TV. The lag makes this all but impossible for most games, even in game mode.

However, TV software is full of bugs! It crashes from time to time and you can't just turn power and on to get it going every time. Sometimes you have to pull the plug out for a minute. The most recent update to software cannot be applied now too as it errors after 5 mins of trying to apply. Have now raised a ticket with Philips support. Sound quality is not that great either so I had to buy a soundbar.

If the update won't run it sounds like you may have a fault on your set, a memory fault or something similar.
I have used very for deals like this for years. Never once had a problem. Bought all sorts of items and always received the cash back. Can clear the balance whenever you want so you don't need to wait until the end of the BNPL period, if you so wish.

Was just about to ask about the peak brightness. My current Hisense has 500 nits. Still way off the 1000 nits for true HDR. But it hold it's own against the LG OLED B7 we just got.

Hi - Would be incredibly grateful if anyone has a 10% code that they're not intending to use?

I bought the 55pus6401 for £450 and had to send it back due to blue patches on the screen. There was also something not quite right with the motion in 4K and I put it down to a compression issue with my sky Q box/bandwidth. I then bought the Hisense H55N5700 for £589 and I must say the difference in picture quality is night and day. No issues with motion blur and the picture with HDR looks fantastic. I agree it won't be as outstanding as an OLED but for a third of the price, the Hisense is a really great set.
But I could find negatives on every TV posted. But if someone wants a 55" 4k for this price then this is the best for that size and price. I agree some people's expectations are silly at the end of the day you usually get what you pay for its a £500 TV it will perform just like one

I got my bulbs today but no mention of the £10 voucher. Anyone else got anything?

Oh and yes the E14s I received are richer colours.
Bit of a shambles here from Maplin. Ordered 9 x GU10's on Saturday and paid and today they tell me no stock and I will get a refund in 3-5 days time. I found out by them first sending an email saying the order cancelled due to "my" request.
When I followed up they said, "yeah sorry about the wording of mail". Then made no offer to try and fulfil order in future or a speedier attempt to get money back to me.

Will I order with Maplin, again, possibly but way more wary after this experience. Poor stuff.
What is that device in the image in the OP?
I'd love to jump in on this, but no home delivery for the bulb I need and all the stores near me have 2 in stock.

Hope they get more stock soon.

OOS!
Seen this when first posted and thought it was an excellent deal but I’ve recently had dealings with Philips regarding a faulty TV and found out the flowing:

Bought a little 32” last year for John Lewis and it went wrong recently, apparently Philips insist on repairing their TV’s themselves requiring you to send your faulty set to their repair centre, wait times are between 4 & 6 weeks! John Lewis say they’re not allowed to appoint local repair agents for Philips TV’s anymore. It’s a lot of hassle trying to find packaging to safely ship the TV back to them, even more so if you have a big one. Also a lot of people I’ve spoken to have said they’ve received their TV’s back both un-repaired and damaged. Lets hope these don’t go wrong.
Few questions -

Can I plug in a USB with movies on and watch the movies?
Can this do USB recording?

Thanks

You know, I'm not all that bothered about the whole 1080p matter either, and am aware that the general consensus is that you can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p unless it's on a 50" panel - the reason behind Panasonic not making 1080p 42" plasmas.

However, the picture on this set will blow any comparable panel away - comparable in the prices found elsewhere - 1250-1500 quid.

I though deals were voted hot on the basis that they were cheaper than the same product can be found anywhere else...:whistling:

Anyhoo, no biggy.
I was going to say something similar myself! Great for a small room, where you're sitting close to the telly, but otherwise don't bother and get a standard 720p telly instead and pocket the saving.
Ideal viewing distance: 5.5 feet. Anything further and 1080p is wasted, and you'd get a better picture from a 720p plasma.
I think this is the 1080i one if it's the 37PF9731D, but the panel is 1920x1080
