We've got 2 of these, used daily and find them excellent. That said it probably is just as easy to use a pedal bin...

xJayJayx89

It’s a good price but you’d be throwing money away buying one. Nappy sacks are more effective and the cassettes for these are a waste of money for what they actually hold. The tommee tippee ones are often given away with a £10 spend on amazon as well so shows how much of a gimmick they are.

squiff

Maybe. I can't have bins as I have a dog who'd just tear them open, regalrdless of the contents. I have been using 'value' nappy sacks as dog poo bags and they don't lock any of the smell in whatsoever so why would they keep in the smell from dirty nappies? We've thrown caution to the wind and bought one of these for our baby but if we don't need/use it we'll either sell it or donate it to charity. We decided as we were placing an order to be delivered anyway we might as well risk the fiver - which is worth it for the cassette if not just the bin.

kushie

Everytime I see these on offer I feel like I need one but it really is unnecessary. All it takes is some strong nappy sacks and a regular change of bin bag.

mdekq007

We have one of these. Baby is now 11 weeks. The nappy bin is unnecessary and still in its box

Going to a baby shower next week and looking for a present and found this. I have one and really find it useful. Also available in store
MildmanneredCalvin

I bought one expensive system from John Lewis about 3 years ago, they don't sell it anymore unfortunately, but the specialised bin was so worth it. It didn't need refills of any kind whatsoever, just does a great job of sealing smells of the nappies. It was ultra handy in the flat we used to live in as we didn't have a dedicated bin just like another user confirmed where they lived in their flat. The disposal bin was 75 pounds and worth every penny. These systems are very handy for people who don't empty their bin every day.

emmylou4004

Personally we never used one with my little girl as I could take them out straight to the bin - but I can understand why they might come in handy for people living in flats. I did buy one instore yesterday as they make a great baby shower present (as all these baby showers are becoming expensive (fierce) )

texaspetey

This item does highlight the differences of perspective and environment that means one useless thing to someone, is another’s invaluable item. This is why if it’s a deal it should get heat, and we should remember this is not a review site.

pinkcamelia

Nice find :D

ykhan16

Thats a good price. We ended up getting something similar and used it for about a year. Wasnt really happy about the cost of it given that it takes 10 seconds to throw a nappy in the bin outside. My partner wanted one though and in the end I think we both appreciated it especially in the early few months when nappies had to be changed during the night- in the middle winter.

My 2 year old has the slightly more expensive AC1100 model. Couldn't live without it and I have complete peace of mind, had a few problems at start but I was using the wrong settings, once tweaked its flawless. Got another baby coming in November and will use and trust Angelcare again.

Oneday77

We had the AC401 with motion sensor. Brought more peace of mind than any camera or microphone ever could. It was very sensitive and worked flawlessly. As long as we didn’t forget to pause it :p

shoobirdy

We dropped our handset on the floor and the screen was damaged... complained to them about the frailty of the item (it wasn't a bad drop by any means) and the best they offered was to replace it for about £40 (I should add we had the top of the range model at the time) so not great but was happy to pay it for the peace of mind it brings. Got woken up to the alarm going off a few times in the first few months so consider it a bargain whatever the cost.

xlxaiwa55xlx

We had an angel are sensor monitor for our little ones. It worked perfectly for 3 kids. Even survived my 18 month old putting the handset down the toilet. Excellent bit of kit.

Seems like a good price, and this has lots of good reviews over the more expensive camera packages. I’m planning on getting a nest or Logi circle 2 for occasional visual checks.

My mistake - I got the Tesco one for £85, which in fairness is now oos, so perhaps this isn't so bad afterall https://www.tesco.com/direct/angelcare-ac1100-digital-video-movement-and-sound-baby-monitor/211-0057.prd?skuId=211-0057&pageLevel=sku&sc_cmp=eml_auto_dispatch

Cezza01

That doesn’t come with movement pad, which seems more useful than a low res Camera.

Rich383838

I'm going to go cold - simply because the next model up (with the camera) is £60 at Asda

We’ve had an older Angelcare monitor albeit without the Video function and it has served us very well. We tried quite a few beforehand and found none to be anywhere near as good. Have a separate camera already or I’d be quite tempted. Can highly recommend Angelcare based on the model we’ve had (highfive)

Mentos

We’ve got the version with the mat and has been good with our first. Now being used for our second. Only negative is battery life isn’t great. Not a major issue for us as it mostly sits on charger next to sofa, but maybe an issue if you need to carry it around

We still use ours with our 5 year old so we know if he gets out of bed to play in the middle of the night! Very few false alarms if set up properly and good peace of mind. I’d get the voice and sensor ones though, if only because they are mains powered with battery backup rather than batteries-only

rachelgti

Thanks Luke, I cancelled my original order to re order and add the free baby wipes, even better deal :-)

nuttyginger

We’ve got an ac401, motion and audio and still use with our 2.5yr old -mainly to find out if he’s got out of bed. Have bought this to use in toddlers room and will use the audio one with 6 month old who’s due to go in his own room. Thanks op. I had almost bought from Tesco direct for £30 and was regretting not having checked out :) not anymore

Helpful567

had one of these when our kids were babies. (the oldest is now 13 years old). I cant remember false alarms and was pleased with the product

Savannah_Williams

I have one of the Angel care monitors with the sensor mat with both of my children. Well just stopped using with my 2.5 yr old. I think they are amazing. Not many false alarms. Worth it for when it may need to be a real one! Only alarmed when baby has moved to far down the bed to be picked up correctly by the sensor. And with toddler when he fell between his guard and bed which could save his life if he got stuck. I only slept well when this was on. Otherwise I was hovering to make sure they were okay. This price is amazing. Heat!

I have the AC1120 but that has AAA batteries which you can add your own. I thought this would be better but due to the fact you have to use their batteries I think I might be better off with the one I have.

Seems a great price. But reading reviews across loads of websites, the reviews aren't great. The battery seems to be a massive issue, Lots of people having the devices replaced after 3 months.

Thanks OP. Anybody know if this takes AAA batteries for the unit you hold? I've seen some bad reviews but assuming you can fix by getting decent AAA rechargeable batteries.

Got mine, all setup and so far so good however I have some strange issue on the screen. I've taken the protective film off but there are three distinct squares on the screen. I tried rubbing the screen but the blocks are not on the screen. Not sure if I have a faulty unit. Once the screen is on you can't see these blocks, only at extreme angles or when the screen is off. We bought one for our first child, as we lived in a flat it was handy to keep the smells trapped. Nowadays we've learned that these aren't necessary at all , the thick nappy sacks that tesco sell are excellent.
