I've had this camera for about 18 months and recently upgraded to a DSLR. It is a good size and the zoom is impressive but you will become frustrated with its usability and its lack of functions. I paid £230 from JL which included a Velbon tripod. Not voted either way

I got the MkIII for £499 with the same case in the summer. I got £150 cashback from Sony which was pretty painless to get, so that worked out as £349.This MkI is still a good deal though.

erm ok

LOl, i laughed so much i nearly fell off my chair, and now people at work think i am mad

That changed this morning then. Was up yesterday. Also worth asking at specific stores. When it said online they didn't have any near me, I saw them in my local store.

Mine arrived safely in a week, no customs fuss. Very happy. UK Sony dealer cashback on this looks like it's down to £50, so the eGlobal price now looks very attractive indeed.

where from please?

yep cold imo

Another option? Currently £80 cashback on this camera from Sony for purchases from an official UK Sony dealer between November 23rd-28th 2018. See Terms and conditions. The price at most UK dealers seems to be around £300, so £220 if you qualify for the cashback. That's £17 more than eglobal, but you do get the Sony UK warranty, and you should be able to get the camera in a couple of days.

Darnit, if only it were hackable with custom firmware or something. Still with all the cheap action cameras coming out of China one of those might be better for my usage (bike camera, no live-streaming).

Was cheaper for the past 2 months at the same on line shop.

Yep, appears so. I got one on eBay for £15 brand new, tried to setup with iOS and failed, then tried setting up with android and it failed again. It’s due to Facebook authentication stopping it. Still works as a normal camera but even at that the quality of the 1080p isn’t worth it.

Have they broken Android too? I know iOS streaming with it didn't work (at least the registration part) but it's a shame if it's pooped using Android too.

Don’t buy, live streaming no longer works at all.

Where is the currys deal, can seem to find it

The image quality from the XC lenses in this kit is actually surprisingly good. They are underrated, I think, because the build quality is not to the same standard as the XF range, and also they are not as fast, and do not have aperture rings. They are plenty good enough for the casual snapper.

XC are very good lenses compared to most kit lenses but generally more plastic in their construction, aperture not as wide etc. The 50-230 is worth having if you want a long lens as the XF alternatives cost a lot.

Id rather not spend any extra, i guess xf is similar to the canon red ring range? Id still be really impressed by the xc range i assume?

Panasonic TZ-100 top end compact camera - £414 @ Amazon

£414 from Amazon. £314 after current double cashback of £100. Unless I'm missing something, great price for this nice little beast.
Get dealGet deal

They are both top end compacts. Better lens for low light shots on the lx15 plus flip screen. tz-100 has much greater zoom and has a viewfinder. Depends on your needs. Loads of comparisons on google.

Is this better than the lx15?

Interesting. Perhaps got it confused with the TZ-90

Currys put it live at that price for a few hours in the morning last week, and Amazon matched it. Obviously a mistake, as it was back up to normal price by 10:00 on Currys, and not long after on Amazon.

That's a ridiculous price..where did you see that and why didn't you pull the trigger?

Thanks for the kind words guys. These are fairly heavily post processed in Lightroom. I have a one click user preset that adds the level of grain I like and a few other tweaks. I only shoot RAW and never use the in camera JPEG effects. I prefer messing around with them myself, the GR can create some beautiful and sharp photos but I often boost saturation and lift shadow detail etc. It has 3 user preset positions on the top dial: I have 1 set for street stuff, one for macro and one for landscape (3 shots, +1 and -1 exposure to HDR later) although the dynamic range from the GR is so good (for a compact) that the HDR effect can be done from one shot more times than not. If anyone has any questions I’d be happy to help if I can. Enjoy your GR’s ;)

Yep +1 to this - very impressive photos @locktheworldout @windta1ker once you've given your camera a trial run let us know how you got on! I'll probably get out with mine this weekend and see what's about :)

Got a lot of time for that first image...very nice (highfive) is that straight out the camera? Thinking about shooting raw + b&w jpeg, been hearing some nice comments with regards to the GR processing the b&w images. So looking forward to getting out and about!

I don't think I could live with the adapter and hood on due to the extra size. The APS-C sensor in a slim pocket friendly magnesium body means it's ultra-portable, adding the width of the hood etc would be a real shame to me. I think I'd rather deal with dust if I'm unlucky enough to get it.

I read the same about the buttons, and also the microphone holes either side of the lens. I use black tape to cover the white GR wording on the front and over the 2 holes - this gives full stealth mode and hopefully a bit more protection against dust. To be honest it's luck as virtually all cameras with retractable lens mechanisms can suck in dust. I read it's something to do with Ricoh stretching a circular gasket into a rectangular shape. I love this Ninja-mode camera, it means I can get close for this type of shot, and snap focus means the camera doesn't try to focus on the hand in the last picture, but stays on the subject.

When I had nex cameras (had every model since day one) I had the 30mm sigma and loved how sharp it was, also had this too. On a7ii now and have the 55mm zeiss and that is a mind blowing lens. Total perfection

I use this and have a Sigma 30mm f2.8 for wider angles. Both are fantastic

In other news this lens is not a phone and will not get you to work in the morning.

Surely it all depends on the size of your house???

The sigmas are razor sharp I’ll give you that but stabilisation in this lens is quite beneficial for the typical use of this lens.

Same deal all over the place now

That’s true. It’s cheaper...It’s an older model with older technology.Even for £1400....I still recommend saving more for the a7iii unless your are hungry for megapixels (landscape shooters etc). I wouldn’t say it is ‘exceptional’..It is cheaper than it used to be brand new and for good reason! Anyway at the rate Sony update systems there will be a mkiiii by Christmas. Also...same deal available at Park Cameras if Camera World becomes out of stock.

But they're not the same price are they?! The a7iii is £2k and this is £1600 after cash back with a £300 light you'll get £200 ish on ebay for after researching so you end up paying £1400 for it! This is exceptional for the money

To complete your claim you will be required to include electronically the serial number of the product a photo of the serial number on the product itself and a copy of your original printed sales receipt/sales invoice

A maximum of 3 claims can be made by one consumer (and only one claim per product) .

Not sure, but I doubt it.

Got it. For me it would be the 13th. Is the photo of the SN on the box ok for the claim?

It already comes with a mini tripod. I bought it as my samsung s6 camera wasn't that good.

The picture does show the 40x Optical Zoom but yeh, nice to have it in the description. I have the 610 which is obviously a slightly earlier version but is a great camera for family holidays. Might upgrade it to this one.

The important missing feature listed is the zoom -- it is after all called a superzoom! It's 40x for those interested.

not bad - you'll probably want to buy a head for the tripod though

nice stalking love, perhaps if you weren't a clueless hypocritical grammar nazi id not even have replied to you and you would still have been skipping away happily

I've just taken the liberty of reading some of your replies on other posts. You really are a vile individual. Probably the type of person that dishes it out behind the keyboard, but when confronted crawls under their own pitiful existance. To be honest reading some of your other responses to people wasn't a surprise.

Dont ever call me love...

come on love you are getting silly, you have contributed absolutely nothing other than mistakes, hypocrisy and attacks. yet its me thats a 'total w4nker' and a 'tw4t'? ah well... if it makes you feel better ps. awknowlege? double apostrophes? from a spelling/grammar nazi its me raging? oh man... irony

Brilly - you are demonstrating yourself to be a total w4nker. It''s a camera for godsake. If you've got camera rage then go and see a shrink. By constantly going on the attack you are just making yourself out to be a tw4t. Yes my comment about the sensor was incorrect, I awknowleged that. Are you going to awknowlege you have nothing better to do than post on this thread... no? Thought not....
