Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ80 £239 @ Amazon
Found 28th JulFound 28th Jul
Lowest price yet on Amazon for the TZ80.

Panasonic currently offering £50 cashback on TZ100.

I have a tz70 from john Lewis for £219 which is now selling for £199. Good camera but not suitable at all for evening or night shots. Good zoom in day light.

Agree I've had a similar older spec model and just used it at a family wedding as I need something a bit better than a mobile phone! Easy to use and has some nifty features too.

I am still using an older ZS20. Had another 3.2MP Lumix before that. I have always been a huge fan of Lumix. Phone cameras are fine for routine stuff but there are situations, like my visit to Farnborough last week, where a dedicated camera is required.

other marketplace sellers selling this at a similar price suggests that this is not really a deal. sorry.

Tried to get this deal and it now costs £324

which one should i go for this one or the Sony Cyber-shot HX400V ?

that is a great price

You buy these kinds of cameras purely for the amazing zoom, e.g.

Thanks, paid £261.93 with the code for new customer and then hopefully will get another £30 back when I register it with Panasonic, therefore £231.93 in total (Fingers crossed). Great Deal 8) .

I see Wex have matched this price now online, maybe the new RRP from Panasonic for the TZ100 although all others are still £525 or so but a lot of retailers have no stock which made me question whether or not it will still be produced. TZ200 still on preorder, phoned local Wex and they are still awaiting stock, but all online stores are £725 preorder. Can't justify the extra for a longer zoom and a s you say a few minor updates.

they are surely going to have both models going at the same time - tz100 highest price on amazon since introduction was 550 so its not even come down much in 2 years if it tz200 really does sell for 729 and tz100 cease to exist thats a massive amount of customers lost imo as a whole new price level for what is basically a jump in zoom and very very minor updates otherwise

This or wait for the Z200 (RRP £720 thou) :/ I wonder will the Z100 still be produced or will the Z200 completely replace it. If the Z100 goes sub £400 I'll buy 8) Nice deal anyway, cheapest price at present, heat added (highfive)

as said above - they didn't 'go back' they kept the 30x zoom range with smaller sensor and made more of them after tz100 was released (including your tz80 and the newer tz90) thats not abandoning it to those that want it - its a parallel range the similar naming is pretty stupid though

Brilliant camera. The zoom is only at 10x as the sensor is so much larger than most travel zooms. Bigger sensors need bigger lenses. 20x digital still looks really good on this.

349 now???

It's good to see a budget model at a budget price for a change. Manufacturers seem to only bother with high-end models nowadays , clearly more mark-up.

why would they need to? it IS misleading as very few people buy their lens that way people pay an extra 50-100 quid to get it as a kit lens and as such thats its true 'cost' never minding the actual 'rrp' pretty much the same as any kit lens because 'noone' buys the lens that way then noone cares about the retail price also as you ironically used to make a point about... the lens included here is not boxed so not even really the same at all

'No one ever buys the 12-32 new on its own at that price, so it's a tad misleading' I did say retail price, buy it unboxed and it can be had for £169 :) Care to provide us with a link to a better price than £249, new, that's not a grey import or open box?

I've had this camera for at least two years and it's been used a lot. The viewfinder is great on sunny days and also helps stabilizer the camera. You can output in RAW for editing, it connects via it's own WiFi to your phone or tablet. It's a great piece of kit.

Gone sorry

Woop, the price has went down again, Currys are toying with us. I'm still trying to find a camera case that doesn't cost the earth - any suggestions, you lovely people? :D XD Me and the Pentax camera case would make a good pair, I'm pretty hideous as it is :p

Not quite as good as yesterday's John Lewis deal (£449) and when I looked earlier, Park Cameras didn't currently have stock...

Good deal. Mine just arrived from yesterdays John Lewis deal. Seems like a very nice bit of kit so far. Currently you can get an Olympus 30mm f3.5 macro for $99 from the BHPhoto in the US - even after customs it's still cheaper than I've seen it over here.

Haha you updated it as I posted so I deleted my post! You're welcome! :)

Same here. Ordered.

Showing as expired, but it still seems to be working. £549 with the code and then £449 with Panasonic cashback?

Had this for over the summer in Japan. Used with a pancake 20mm (40mm equiv) prime which kept the overall size down. Drawbacks: Focus hunts/breathes a bit in continuous AF during video; isn't the quickest to AF/track on stills with moving targets; IBIS not the best when it's body only (want lens + body ideally). Body is a bit bulky. Good points: menus and amount of buttons/dials to customise is great; flip out touchscreen and tilty EVF are excellent. Built like a tank. Moved to a6300 since for the bigger sensor, AF/AFC speed and tracking, superior video quality, and smaller body.

Is this right? I think the first £100 is already taken off the price, making it £549 after cashback.

Yup highly recommended especially for travelling.

I also noticed that I'm unable to claim cashback through the website. So I've emailed them. Will let you know how I get on. Seems like a lot of faffing about for £50.

why exactly did you contact - to check they would honour cashback or to check that they would be valid for a future purchase?

Just to confirm, Amazon are certainly honouring the original deal. I also noted that Amazon had been dropped from the list, contacted them using the email link, and had confirmation within 24 hours.

Contact them - it was because amazon are running their own promotions so now they have to be input manually if you purchased in the right date window. I have my cashback cheque

I agree - Amazon was on the list. Why have Panasonic taken it off ? Are they not wanting to sell cameras via Amazon ? Let me know how you get on with your claim.

Well, the optical zoom is very good. And it's made by a very well know lens maker Leica. The Sony zoom is a T* made by Carl Zeiss. You can't get much better than those. The sensor is only 1" but 20 Mp. Ok, zoom lenses can't be as good as prime lenses. But who can afford a range of prime lenses nowadays? And it's all in a reatively compact body

Interesting, was this only at 4K? (I'm not actually intersted personally in 4K)

You also need to look at what lenses you'll want/need as well as size/weight. There's not always a huge difference in the weight between some of the more substantial m43 bodies and the cheap dslr offerings, but biggest weight savings come when you compare lenses. I hardly used my Canon when I was hiking (too much effort to keep stopping to take it out of my pack) and it wasnt practical to have it out all the time, but my GX80 fits in a case attached to the chest harness of whatever pack I use and it's always there when I need it

Same as a few of the previous comments very little experience with a Camera looking for something entry level for when i go travelling and hiking... any recommendations? was also looking at the Nikon D3400 In general all the mirrorless camera have been a bit pricier than the entry DSLR

This camera doesn't use CCD (not that it has any effect on on focal length) and you're not going to get a long zoom lens starting at 12mm EFL. The only ultra wide fixed lens 1in camera was the ill fated Nikon DL with the 18-50mm lens which was cancelled before it was released, if you want a compact ultra wide the only option is to go for a mirrorless and a UWA lens although you won't get much zoom range. Not a bad price compared to its peers but there seems to be a lack of progress in large sensor compacts. As in, it's been a few years since Sony RX100 came out but the prices for similar cameras are still very high

Good deal, hot!

I have the LX7. Which also has a fast 1.4 lens. The larger sensor and 4K would be nice. But wow the price!!!!!! I shall wait a while till it drops to something affordable. But a great camera for sure. The lens is the most important part of any camera.

You can get the Sony RX100 III for £499 so you need to decide if a viewfinder is more important to you than a touch screen and 4K video.

The TZ70 does not offer GPS at all (was a dealbreaker for me, pity as it's a handsome camera) Knowing where holiday snaps were taken when reviewing them years later is a must in my family. Bought my TZ60 at JL due to an earlier HUKD deal. The wifi function works well for grabbing zoom photos onto phone on the go, to include in social media messages.

I just bought this from John Lewis too for £219 last week :(

[quote=rodman]same price with JL just put the code PANASONICTRADE20[/quot You have to trade in your old camera to get this price from JL

Literally just looking at these models as a present for my daughter. I started looking at the TZ60 then thought the TZ70 would be better as it has the same size sensor but fewer pixels (but loses the GPS coordinates). As of this morning, I was thinking the TZ80 might be better still and it has the 5 yr warranty if registered before end of May - but still doing my research. £200 is a good price for this.
