At this price it's worth it for the toon if you have any old spades which need a new one. The blade on this is just worthless pig iron though. Buy old or inherit your spade blades.

Just popped to Homebase, for me it’s a bit flimsy so have it a miss. Added Heat for the deal (y)

Won’t let me add to basket grrrr, 16 in stock at my local. Heat

Bought one and works a treat. Any cheap food poison offers? Thankfully my wife enjoys a nice curry.

Just got an email saying the quid hard wood restorer is now also on its way a month early ( Mind you I'm still waiting on a hatchet from a month ago at least so not everything turns up quickly.

Said that when I ordered 2 weeks ago, already got them both though. They seem to set an arbitrary date if they don't yet have stock, just been told the HG parquet floor cleaner for a quid will be here in 2 days and that said a month (here if anyone is interested:

"Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months"

EXPIRED - Must have been reduced to clear as they are no longer on the Argos site.

Perfect for scooping up cat crap and aerially propelling it into the cat owning neighbours garden.

Exactly. The branding should be ignored and treated like some kind of sham. I would view it as being an "Argos Value" spade & disregard the name. And if that's all you need, well it is a low price, so why not buy ?

Probably not great for heavy digging. @Ridgehead...........use a fork to loosen the soil around the try roots; try to avoid using a spade especially for levering the root as you'll bend or break the spade.

Cheers OP, broke my spade yesterday digging up a tree root. They also have the fork to match @ £5.99.

The main difference between Digging Spades & Border Spades is size, and this differs in two ways; 1. Head Size Digging Spades generally have a bigger digging head than Border Spades. As a very rough rule of thumb, the digging head of Border Spades is around 30% less than that of Digging Spades. 2. Length Digging Spades are also typically longer than Border Spades. An approximation would be that a Border Spade would be between 5cm & 10cm shorter than a Digging Spade. Both of these combined therefore means that Border Spades are lighter than Digging Spades, with maybe around a 10% difference in weight between the two. So which are better - Digging Spades or Border Spades? Well, the honest answer is "it depends". The use of a spade is very much a personal preference, however, in general Digging Spades are more often used where a large patch of open ground requires digging, whereas Border Spades are used where space is more tight - typically between established plants in a garden border or vegetable patch. However, if you're not able to lift heavier weights or you have a tendancy to over-do it by piling too much onto your spades, then smaller Border Spades may be the better option for you. Female gardeners often find that Border Spades are more suited to their needs due to the lighter weight of the spade itself & the smaller soil loads lifted.

I think you'll find that most digging forks that shops sell haven't ever been used prior ....but they will have been touched by the retail staff.

can anyone recommend a good digging fork? need something sturdy for allotment that hasnt been touched for over a year...:|

I had a spear and Jackson 'never bend' fork. Guess what happened.

£12.55 now :( But ordered it anyway, and it arrived almost the next day! the D bit is rivited, and the shaft has what looks like two cross screws, one in very deep the other slightly sticking out and it had a Bulldog sticker on it too

Mines looks fairly square, cant' wait to put it to use... come on white stuff do your worst!8)

the lack of screws i think was from marketplace sellers selling their 'equivalent' items which shouldn't be allowed but goes on way too much. anyone elses got a slight buckle? the metal edge is straight but if you look down the shaft along the top face of the scoop the left hand side is pulled back slightly. wonder if may affect balance.

Mines arrived yesterday! Free Saturday delivery from Amazon lol (there never this quick when u want something urgent lol!) It is deff very good quality. Whoever mentioned it not coming with screws was wrong?! My handle and lower scoop are both rivitted on. Deff better quality then others i have seen. The metal edge is a good idea to give it strength. Not bad! Now to get some rock salt and im all set :D

received mine - definitely more heavy duty than a normal snow scoop looks like its gonna kick some snow ass this winter
