I'm planning a new kitchen installation and thinking about getting a boiling water tap. Has anyone got one, are they any good or just a gimmik, anything to watch out for?

Its brilliant - only has a 750w element in it and the tank is insulated meaning very low kwh usage over a day. I have a smart plug controlling it so it shuts down between 9pm and 6am to save even more pennies.

We have a older type at work, and it's not that reliable, also kinda put me off, but you have to expect it would have had much more use than any household.
The thing that puts me off that is it says near-boiling water.
How near? You can't brew a decent cuppa in water that's merely hot, it really needs to be boilng. (edited)

Don't really need them in Cornwall as water is really soft. Only moved in April 2021 and changed the filter once as I don't know how long the other one had been there.
Couldn't taste a difference with new filter fitted to be honest. I got a twin pack for £42 but you can get 3rd party filters. I did with the fridge water dispenser and had no issues with those.
Biggest benefit being when cooking.

Yeah, should be fine then. It's only to stop the scale in the boiler. If your kettle doesn't scale up then you'll be fine.
It makes excellent tea Spoo. Have no fear. The thing to fear is a Quoker. They spit boiling hot water all over you. Horrible things that cost £1,000 or more.

No need to spend anymore than that.
I'm interested in the Costco one as it was instore at £299.
The other one I've seen is this much cheaper Sauber 3 in 1 at £219
