Virgin Media broadband tv

Posted 19th May 2023
Hi. I’ve been with virgin media for years. My recent bill is now £82. I have the 250 package with mixit and documentaries, and a phone line I don’t use - off peak free I think. I’ve called them and the best they can offer is £40 a month. We don’t really watch tv, mainly watch Netflix - paid for separately or bbc. Has anyone had any luck in getting it for less?
I’ve told them I will leave, and am looking at heybroadband for broadband only. They’ve just put cables down by our house, so hoping they are good.
So questions…
What are others paying?
Is heybroadband any good?
Would prefer to not have hassle of change, as just had some nasty cancer surgery and am already feeling sorry for myself.
Thanks x

That's a 50% saving, but the best offer only comes when you politely, but firmly give notice to disconnect & get an actual cut-off date, ensure your marketing preferences allow them to contact you & wait - assuming you're out of contract. (edited)

I'm currently paying £31 a month - although that isn't a true cost as I they messed up the billing and charge me for both a VM mobile SIM & O2 SIM, so there is about another £30 to add to the bill per month!
It was £22/month last month and VM & O2 SIMs brought it to just under £50/month (I need to get a refund as they are charging me for 2 SIMs even though I only have the VM mobile SIM). I fear if I renegotiate I may lose the current discount for little package improvement.

You also have the faster BB. You seem to have a really good deal. I will hold out to see if they call and offer a better deal. I was hoping for around the £30 mark.

It takes a lot of energy and time to negotiate prices and/or changes services. There is no guarantees that you will get a better offer if you hand your notice in. There are times in peoples life where it's best to avoid these sorts of changes. Based on what you said, I would take their offer of £40. A decent broadband will cost at least £25/30 at best. You get extra services such as recording facilities and some TV that you might watch or record occasionally. It's a decent offer for what you get. I would snatch their hand of now and get on with your life. Changing and trying to get everything up and running again is not worth it to save a few pound - not now in your life. What you change to could give lots of issues - you just never know. Better the devil you have - Life is too short - don't waste time on this

You have a lot of services for £40.

I pay £22 for just 100mb BB and landline so your deal looks great to me.

You probably want to call them and reduce your services (edited)

I don’t need the extras, just bb but they quote more for just that!

They called me and offered M125 (broadband only) for £17. I told them no and waiting to see if they call me back again. (edited)

Have you tried VM business? It was cheaper for us there.

How can I go about this? If I currently have a personal one? I do have a business - so could do this.
