Garden Parasol base advice

Posted 5th Jun 2023
Hi all,

We've bought a garden set with table and chairs from B&M, it was only after we built it that we realised that it doesn't come with the base for the parasol!

We've never ever had a parasol before, and looking online there are several types. Some are filled with water and sand (and are ball/over shaped) and some are metal and more slim (like a plate)

This parasol goes through a hole in the middle of the table, and need a base on the floor. I'm just wondering if the base will get in the way of your legs if it's too big. The set sits on the grass.

Any reccomendations?

Cheers

Maybe use a whirligig / washing line spike?

Normally the table holds it, why do you feel you need a base?

Is the table so lightweight that it doesn't have sufficient weight to keep the parasol from tipping over?

£7 for a base in b&m, 20kg of kiln dried sand is under £4 at Travis Perkins.

If it's a glass table make sure you take it out if it gets windy

Heard of quite a few people shattering the glass.

If you’re worried about the size of the base and it’s going on grass could you drill the base of the parasol and then somehow just peg it down ? I’m guessing the concern is it being caught by the wind when up
