Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II Digital Camera - Silver £299 @ Amazon

I have the original rx100 so I don't know what the m3 is like but it fits in the pockets of my jeans no problem but it is on the upper limit of being okay. I got my parents the g9x and it is noticeably smaller. I highly recommend the g9x it will take decent pictures indoors with no flash and only artificial light or just with day light coming through the Windows.

Great camera especially in low light conditions. Love mine.

Old man M&S with elasticated waist!

(shock) It certainly is a great camera, I never suggested otherwise. It doesn't fit in a normal jean pocket though. Not sure what you're wearing XD

The GX7 goes in my pocket and it's an ace camera. Just how tight are your jeans dude?

Is it cheap though? The £60 saving is largely ficticious -- the price was put up to £199 for just 20 days before bringing it back down to £139. Usual Curry/PCW trick: "Was £199.00 (from 18/04/2018 to 08/05/2018)". (mad)

Typically it's a "credential stuffing" attack where the database from a less secure website gets leaked and the hacker can log in using the username/passwords of someone who uses the same password on all websites they use, that's why you should use different passwords where possible!

No hard feelings. Thank you...You've just improved my writing " skill" :))

OnePlus 5 Bought from BangGood for £360

Is a samsung wb31f comparable to the op camera? I have no interest in cameras on phones just looking for a reasonable camera for taking snaps of birds in my garden and maybe the occasional bug or two so I can zoom in later to see them up close. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Just curious, how much did your phone cost and what is it? serious question.

Yes the TZ-100 as mentioned is one of the best along with the sony rx100m3. Periodically with cashback promos you can buy these for less than £400. This is not quite as powerful a camera as these but was still a good deal All about needs and budget I suppose... and waiting for a deal.

Only if you can't afford £500 for a phone and require a camera, it would be worth paying a little bit more for something better though. "Struggles in low light, poor video quality, ease of use niggles, imprecise zoom This is a disappointing camera that fails in too many areas. Picture quality is below par and video quality is poor" Should I buy it? No - there are far better cameras at a similar price. Take a look at the Nikon Coolpix S7000 as an alternative - it's a much better option if you're on a limited budget.

Yea you are right, probably a grey Import also, so next best price is £278. Looks like this has been superseded by the SX730, only difference appears to be a swivel screen, but costs £320.

Heat for price, but add me to the list of commenters pointing out that rather than being the best of both worlds, this camera combines the bulk of a dslr with the image quality of a mid-range compact. For less than this, you can pick up a second-hand Canon 100d off eBay which is smaller than most dslr cameras. You’d be missing the printer and the 45x zoom - depends on how important those things are to you. Personally I’d not miss them, but horses for courses etc

Picked one of those up in the recent curry's misprice for £120. Can confirm, great little camera. You're spot on re the hassle of carrying around the bridge camera too, I bought the TZ60 as my DSLR was a pain to lug around for days out.

Again! Argos keep trying to push this stuff. It's not awful but I bet most of them get left at home because they are too big to lug around and a camera which isn't with you won't take good pics! No viewfinder either - which would have helped justify its size. Think hard before splashing your cash: I'm all for encouraging people to take photography more seriously but this really isn't the right (type of) camera for most people. For just a little more money you can get something like a Panasonic TZ60 travel zoom which takes great pictures, has a big zoom and still fits in a pocket. Regularly drops below £200 as it's an older model.

This won't be a great camera tbh. The lenses on these low end bridge cameras are pretty rubbish. You'd be better off buying a similarly priced point and shoot with less zoom IMO. Beginner or not.

Goes from a useful 24mm to over 1000mm. Sample pics in photography blog look good. Even CA isn't to bad

Ok so please can someone give a link to a decent bridge camera that is a good deal at the moment, my old Fuji died, so time for a new one, cheers.

It has own rechargeable battery. You have a little charger for it's battery. From what I understand..battery last around 200photos..don't know about video

what kind of batteries does it take how long do they last etc recording video? does it have mains adapter power aswell can i use it whilst recording/shooting? anyone?

you can get used dslr for less than 100quid - pretty old but servicable ofc youd probably need to get more lenses etc but what is this 'minimum £2000' crap?

Did anyone else order from Jessops and have problems? I've just cancelled my order through live chat, as when I asked why my camera that was in stock for delivery was now "On Back-Order" they said: "I can see that we are chasing this one up with the stores that have stock of the camera for you. Unfortunately all of the stores that we've contacted only have the camera as a display model so it's proving difficult to find one that we are able to send out. I do apologise for the delay with this." I've now instead ordered with the case and grip from John Lewis for £50 more - I think it's probably actually a better deal given how expensive that case is on its own normally! (Jessops also have the three items at the same price, but I no longer wish to give them my money!)

You are possibly thinking of gx7 G7x is near identical in size to rx100

My micro SD with adapter didn't work with rx100

I have a Sony mirrorless camera as well with APS-C sensor and the results in low light are the same in low light when you use the 16-50mm kit lens as the lens is much better on the RX100 MkIII which roughly cancels out the sensor advantage. Which is why I specifically referred to not changing lenses, as a lot of people buy DSLR but just use kit lens and this camera would actually be better for them. A fast prime lens on DSLR is much better of course.

Good camera but I think "DSLR quality" is a bit misleading, it has a 1 inch sensor which is bigger than most compact camera but it's still a fair bit smaller than the APS-C sensors in most DSLRs so it's low-light performance will not be as good, for DSLR performance in a smaller camera you would need a camera with an APS-C sensor like one of the Fuji X-100 series or one of Sony/ Fujifilm/ Canon's mirrorless cameras, some good deals on Sony's A6000 ATM. Comparison, notice major difference is in low-light ISO performance:

I was away and missed out too. If the camera comes brand new (as in my friend's case) you can register it, give Sony the amazon invoice via cashback website (it doesn't show it's amazon warehouse, just amazon sarl etc) and see how it goes. I've done it myself on a couple of recent sony purchases for a flash gun and a camera and got the cashback direct to my bank account within a week of requesting it. It is a gamble but if it works out like for my friend and I, it's a fantastic bargain. I wouldn't post it because there is no guarantee it'll work, and the 20% discount on Amazon warehouse is now no longer available, although my purchases didn't take advantage of the 20% discount. Like I say, keep an eye out (I got my A6300 with kit lens for about £580 and it was brand new and been registered with Sony, for instance).

549 there... ?

Can be had for cheaper, go via Currys ;-)

so? looking at your history you post micro 4/3rds deals 4/3rds is reference to tube diameter 4/3rds of an inch is 33.9mm sensor size = 18 mm × 13.5 mm (22.5 mm diagonal) nothing like 4/3rds of an inch now if you compare the cameras via crop factor is only 35% 'worse' for '1inch' than for micro 4/3rds but you dont seem to have a problem with the 4/3rds even though your argument implies they are massively bigger and exempt from your own argument the 35% is very very close to the difference between Aps-c and micro4/3s which is 33% to me if anything that shows that 1 inch are BETTER than people think as they are only 35% off systems which are considered fairly similar in class yet 1 inch cameras tend to be much smaller whereas 4/3rd dont tend to be much smaller than asp-c

If your Budget can stretch to it this kit would be far superior as an entry to DSLR (y) Currys

It's been many years since I owned a bridge but I will offer my advice, especially if you're viewing as a beginner camera. I bought a bridge after enjoying my compact cam and wanting to get into photography a bit more. Thought a bridge would be ideal. They look like an SLR and have similar layout and control dials. After I bought it, I found myself very disappointed. The pictures were actually poorer than my previous Panasonic compact. Low light stuff was dreadful, noisy and nasty. That wasn't the worst though, I realised there was nothing my bridge could do the compact couldn't, apart from the mental optical zoom. But it didn't matter, it just didn't take the photos I wanted. I then bought a cheap entry level Sony SLR, after selling the bridge. I was in a different world and wished I'd just gone to SLR first. I don't know much about this camera, perhaps it's very good for what it is. However, save a bit more and about £130 later you've a decent entry level DSLR.

Was thinking about buying this as a beginners camera. or this one from Argos

tough decision I was looking at this for a few days but the £30 code wasn't working 'til now. great price for this bridge camera but it sits in the middle and under performs both compact and dslr kind of the worst of both worlds slow at wide angle and zoom I think there are better options for your money even at £200 (y)

its almost meaningless as other formats dont specify a size so it has no basis for comparison any emphasis you put on the 1 inch is from your own mind

@brilly - but talking about 1 inch sensors in digital era is misleading.

lol at quoting ken rockwell blindly it has a historical basis and everything is relative, just picking one is misleading

Anyone know if this is the latest Cyber Shot model? For the price I would like to think so. It is a good deal but man, cameras seem to only be going up in price and the cheaper ones just get crappier. lol
