are they any good?? i bought some Greggs ones and they are crap by the way, I am not a regular consumer of "coffee to go" butt will it be possible to have a Contigo (or Thermos or whatever) mug and buy cofees in these shops?

supermann

Any ideas on the likelihood of Waitrose being happy with people using these mugs for free coffee there? Turns out they're getting rid of non reuseable cups in the Autumn. Can't blame them to be honest as they are kinda inindated with people. http://www.waitrose.com/home/mywaitrose/free_tea_or_coffee.html

A travel cup that is bigger and less practically for travelling than most household cups :{

Lovely, thanks

morgie

You can also buy in bulk (6 packs) for the same per pack price at Amazon if more suitable for anyone, e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Starbucks-House-Blend-Ground-Coffee/dp/B00OPVLYP0/ I'd seen a review on there suggesting the Best Before Dates on the packs were quite close though (hard to verify) and I think you can run up to +30 days from the date on the pack to claim your free drink in store so would need to keep that in mind.

morgie

Heated! Thanks. Columbia granules, House Blend granules and Espresso beans also £2.75 at Sainsburys, Ocado and Asda. This seems to be the new reduced price rather than £2.50 as they have been in the past, but still decent.

This place is a mixed bag - never stops amazing me when I see wild geese chase deals/OOS deals getting so much heat where people don't check at all and just vote hot - and yet at other times good deals get thrashed - well, doesn't matter much. Looked like a good deal to me, so I posted and will keep doing the same going forward too :)

LeahsMintytoutou

I know, some people need the power of persuasion to see it's a good deal lol! . You could add something like - if spending £50 on eBay don't forget to claim this to the title. Think some people might see it in a different light as Now it just looks like spending £50 to get a £5. I know it's silly but some people don't look at it as a heads up to help them if they were spending (y)

Waitrose have been doing this for ages!

LibertyCap89

I have been a regular at Starbucks for many years (stopped now Ive got my own bean to cup!) never seen a single bag so not everyone knows.

japes

"Coffee logs" That's what I thought happened after drinking coffee (poo) But anyway, good to know. There's a lot of 'waste' that can be turned into fuel, as land fill gets more expensive I think we'll be seeing more and more.

OmendataII

Thats my kind of thinking - then give it to the worms! (nerd)

threedowg

It's a bit of both. Coffee helps grow your carrots and root veg, but for other plants I'd avoid it. Coffee shops do want you to take the waste to save some money, but at the end of the day the coffee shops are only paying to send it to landfill. Spent coffee grounds are a great source of energy, though only one company in the UK are currently making us of this. Bio-bean turn spent coffee grounds to bio-fuels and coffee logs, the latter burns hotter and longer than normal firewood. So you can be cynical that Starbucks are just saving money by not disposing of the coffee, but at the end of the day the issue is that this is a great source of energy which is currently completely wasted around the world. Only 10% of used coffee in the UK is recycled I believe, the rest goes to landfill, whilst the average city will send more than 96% of waste coffee to the dumps. The issue isn't that businesses are being stingy, it's that we're wasting valuable resources.

Yes, there was a promo running that week for an extra stamp, if you buy a cake slice or tray bake. You should get 2 + 1 stamps for the O2 deal. If you used the free coffee barcode (not O2, the code via the app), that doesn't give any stamps, as is the case with the completed stampcard free coffee. Those do NOT award stamps

How ironic, you criticize Starbucks for tax avoidance and then praise your 'local' boots which is one of the biggest tax avoiders there is!!! https://www.medact.org/project/alliance-boots-campaign/

robin5858

Can't stand Starbucks, tax thieving b......d!. I think I will still be going to my local Boots who do thier sandwiches and salads at 50p at the end of the day.

moob

I don't give two hoots about shareholders. I feel strongly that as part of a society founded on a general principle of benevolence and caring for others, that companies and those who avoid (note wording) paying tax should be more stringently controlled and taken Tuesday m to task. I believe in giving back. People like you, clearly don't. Different strokes.

you_gotta_be_kidding

Do you think share holders give two hoots about morals? With my own business I pay an accountant very well to get my liabilities down as much as possible. I am sure Paul Nikkel who owns this site and quidco etc does the same too .. if you were a family earning £50k a year and claiming child tax credits like your entitled to, do you think that's morally correct? After all they don't need it and the money could be spent on better things? My own mother in law is disabled and the government provides her with a car, she uses it once a fortnight to do her shopping, the last one she got had done only 522 miles in 3 years, clearly it would be cheaper to get a taxi once a fortnight, is that morally right? You can attack and find faults with every sector, I don't blame Starbucks, I blame the system. Infact the biggest tax evaders are Google, Apple, Microsoft, IKEA and Amazon, so I hope you don't use any of theirs products or services? Because that would be morally wrong (y)

moob

Yeah, just jump on the bandwagon that avoiding taxation is strictly not illegal therefore ok, despite being morally bankrupt, with the government supposedly doing everything to allow it to continue.

Was once told, never buy coffee beans that have a best before date, they really should only have a roasted date on them. BTW it was a 1KG bag for 9.99 plus delivery.. from the grindhouse. I recently used an NCP. Although cameras were up, although they said it was locked from the public, my car was vandalised with a cost of £3’500 of damage. As you might expect, NCP said their terms and conditions never said their Car Park was ‘secure’ and they, quite frankly, don’t give a t*ss about the fact my car was wrecked. I will never use the overpriced b*stard carparks again and would / will never recommend them to anyone. You may get a voucher, but due to the poor customer service I had, I am sorry to say I can’t vote hot. (you’ll notice they don’t have a twitter account for feedback from customers)
