It is a good idea but I fear the execution will feel tacky and ruin the experience, the DS4 is an incredible feeling controller and very well built. 3rd parties just look and feel tacky scratchy plastic.

A clear design rip of the MOGA Hero Power (pictured below) and likely a fraction of the quality, I personally wouldn't buy it on principle.

Honestly not a bad price, but from my experience with these cheap, Chinese periphirals: I wouldn't trust it as far as I could throw it and there are plenty of alternatives.

Save your money, don't support dodgy business practices.

Mine arrived yesterday. Took approximately 3 weeks to arrive and all is working well except when I try and charge it no lights are displayed. The Nintendo Switch thinks it is fully charged. So far used it for around 7 hours. Anyone have any ideas? Firmware is up to date.

Thanks.

Well, so far I've been playing around and now using Nova launcher to control the box, as a simple media player. It's a bit quirky at times due to the multifunction joystick/mouse setup. I've also installed Google keyboard and from observation it seems pretty snappy and responsive. Still not sure whether or not I should delete the Emtec launcher or not. Running the default software was pretty reasonable but there were too many levels to navigate through to get to my own apps. For the money, I'd say this was a very decent deal, particularly if you were looking for a Bluetooth controller.
Edited by: "gtd65" 22nd Jul 2017
Well I’ve just bought a few of these units as well as a couple of additional remotes.

As far as I’m concerned, there should be more than enough power to run the usual video streaming apps and play some MAME type games.

If you think about a controller being worth say £8 – then @ £12 for an Android TV box seems very decent value indeed with a 1 year warranty and support from a UK retail outlet.

I’ve not seen any deals from China that come close? Granted, it is an older spec.

I still run an original MK808 Android TV stick which must be 4 or 5 years old now and it still plods along with a lesser spec than this but perhaps the same version of Android?

My newest Android box is the (2GB/16GB) Beelink Mini MXIII II and whatever other numbers apply – it’s very well made overall but does have more glitches than the MK808 series units I’ve bought.

I was wondering if any of you have found custom roms for the Gem Box at all?
