sorry. what's apples and pears is comparing a pub/restaurant to a supermarket.

it's you who's made the extreme comparison in an attempt to belittle a reasonable comparison!

in both a pub and a restaurant you can be served a drink and enjoy it sitting down. try doing that in a supermarket?

how do you like them apples!

I paid a fiver gor a can of beer in there. 330ml for £4.95.

Burger average. Beer average... service average. Cold
just had a look at their menu and it seems they sell 330ml beers for between 4-5pounds

you get 660ml of beer with BOGOF instead of 568ml is a standard pint.. it's only 16.2% more beer you're getting, and a standard pint might be a bit cheaper anyway depending on the pub.

i think this is tepid but not hot...

... you have to order a burger...
...it doesn't apply to the 500ml (almost a pint) beers but presumably to the Budweiser/Corona size of bottles which are 275/330ml from memory.

Because this type of Free is a cheap marketing ploy. If many ignore, … Because this type of Free is a cheap marketing ploy. If many ignore, they'll stop such tactics.

Yes that is exactly what it is - a cheap marketing ploy! Newsflash: There is no such thing as a free dinner.

50 people in each location get to try the product for free and, hopefully, tell all their friends how good the burger is.

It's actually pretty risky because the burger might be rubbish and they'll tell their friends never to go!

Seems like a fair deal to me.
Noooo just missed this deal!
Love it when they bring this offer out, happens a few times a year. Used to be 2 for £10 though which was even better!
Chips at Handmade BK have air pockets imo - went once but never again. Really didn't enjoy the food and couldn't put my finger on why, air pockets aside.
rambo_or_mark

you must've been to some nice restaurants!!

Not wishing to start a war about a burger place, I am sure some people love it and it seems very cheap with the price I actually love Handmade Burger Kitchen which is the same idea implemented better.

GBK insist on putting revolting jams all over their burgers (the onion is particularly terrible), and employ staff who dump you down at a table and ignore you until you inevitably leave disappointed. Last time I was there on a quiet Sunday lunchtime they forgot about the drinks (which y'know, happens, no biggie), brought the meals, didn't even notice, I had to go and quiz them about it after a good few minutes of actually hunting for a staff member; it took them a further ten minutes to get them by which time we were almost finished, and didn't even get an apology.

So yes, to sum up, you'd be better off going to Wetherspoons!

I used to say that these are the best burgers I have ever eaten and nothing even comes a distant second. After a three year hiatus, decided to eat there for my birthday couple of months back and was thoroughly disappointed at the quality of the burger - dry, small, tasteless. The menu/options have also been seriously cutback.I will maybe give it one more chance, maybe it was a one-off bad experience but until then I make sure I tell people how disappointing GBK is. A very big contrast to the high praises I used to sing for many years previously.

It's ok, if you prefer frozen buns, processed meat and cheese etc then … It's ok, if you prefer frozen buns, processed meat and cheese etc then stick to 99p. I'm a foody so seek out real burgers (e.g high quality ingredients - take a look at the price of prosciutto, pancetta, or other fillings you might find in a burger other than a leaf of lettuce). I'm always happy to pay more for a top quality burger/steak/meal in general as I enjoy it, else would buy the ingredients and do it myself at home (might get 2-3 burgers for £8 that way but impossible for 99p). Tip for you - you can buy frozen pizzas for 99p at the supermarket, that's cheaper than it costs in the most popular pizzerias in Italy. Hope you enjoy.

Perhaps Delusion knows a Quality burger with he eats one. Others won't have a clue what you are going on about as they are used to BK rubbish.

All this bl###y fuss about a bit of burger advertising.
Haven't we got more important things to worry about in todays world.
If you like meat good, if you don't just go and eat your vegetables quietly somewhere else.
Yeah, I found out about their offensive adverts today. They were basically inciting yet more hatred towards a group that can actually be considered as having a 'protected belief' under The Equality Act 2010.

I think they've offered 50% off veggie burgers to say sorry, but that's definitely not going far enough given that they've alienated all the vegetarians. Perhaps if they'd offered a completely free veggie meal that might have shown a real effort to apologise and use the opportunity to make them feel welcome again, but I think the value of the discount is an accurate reflection of how they really feel: on the fence about whether they want to join in mocking vegetarians with meat eaters or retain all the veggie customers they had/could have had in the future.

I might be willing to take a free meal from them in the future (although, I'd feel seriously uneasy about the possibility of them sneaking meat into my meal for the LOLs and/or their now empowered meat eating customers making the experience unpleasant), but I am not willing to give them a single penny of my money if they have that sort of disrespectful attitude towards the person holding the purse strings.
I quite like their burgers.
Thanks for this. I used the app the first time I went to GBK and then I hadn't been ever since. (Probably a few years ago to be completely honest), so heat from me. A free lunch is always appreciated!

So I'm not sure it has anything to do with pretentious idiots at all. Well done burgers taste rubbish compared to medium or medium rare burgers. Personally, I'd rather innoculate than avoid. All this modern day fear of bacteria is what's killing people's immune systems, Anti-bacterial soap, spray, this and that. There's a class action suit in the US right now over one of the ingredients commonly used in these anti-bacterial products. I'd rather a small dose of Listeria innocua which is what was found in the Byron burger in that TV programme - and is widely found in all food stuffs. It is harmless to other organisms. So who's the idiot now?
