BLOODY GOOD LENS

Seems this is the normal price. As mentioned above Clifton cameras are £10 cheaper and most other camera stores are £259.

dougan

It all depends on what you most want to use it for. I use mine solely for bird photography, hence why the 600mm is needed, personally, I would not use a converter if you use a lens at 500-600mm

Meathotukdeals

Thanks. Not quite sure to get this or a Canon zoom ( to 300mm ) and add a converted if I need the extra length. I have a Canon macro with is and it's very impressive and smooth.

dougan

Always been impressed with the OS on the Sigma, managed to get some decent images on a shutter speed that should be too low for a 600mm lens, again hand held. As to using it for video, never took video with it, presume you would have to use a decent tripod and switch the OS off if using a lens of this focal range.

Meathotukdeals

Hi hope you don't mind another question (nerd) Is the Sigma OS still the same as shown in this video (only 27 seconds long but its an old video, maybe things have improved?). Wanting to use it for stills and vid.

dougan

All were hand held, as long as you keep your shutter speed above 500s you should be ok. I achieve the desired shutter speed by altering the iso or aperture. I only use the view finder.

Unfortunately we have experienced an IT error on our website which resulted in the Sigma 20mm f/1.4 DG HSM | Art - Nikon F (Stockcode G242246N) being listed at £319.00 instead of £669.00. As a result we have cancelled your order, refunded your payment and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused

Same - refunded. It has saved me a cudgelling from the good lady though. Nothing gets past her during quarantine.

nipstyler

EF and EF-S lenses are both affected by the crop factor on an APS-C Canon sensor. The difference is that EF-S lenses only cover the area of a crop sensor while EF lenses cover the full frame area.

Skips86

Thanks

corred1964

Listed as Full Frame....so Canon EF fit not EFs.....that will mean a magnification factor of 1.6x on most EFs bodies.....pushing this to 240-960 equivalent

Cracking lens!

anewman

For those with A mount cameras you really can't beat the Minolta 28-105mm f3.5-4.5 RS for a general purpose zoom lens. They're often available for under £50 on eBay. Just make sure you do not get the xi version. Only advantages of this Sigma would be 4mm on wide end and faster quieter autofocus. dyxum.com/lenses/Minolta-AF-28-105mm-F3.5-4.5-RS_lens37.html dyxum.com/lenses/Sigma-24-105mm-F4-DG-HSM-Art_lens706.html

DealHugger

Yes good point. I actually have a couple of them, FE and E, those translucent ones. I found them to be too bulky and eliminates the advantages of the mirrorless cameras. Those non-translucent ones are just dead slow. I would prefer the native Zeiss 24-70/4 or 18-105 Power Zoom than this combination.

anewman

LA-EA3 best for this one. LA-EA4 would be useless as it uses its own autofocus system.

For anyone thinking of this. Arrived and a cracking bit of kit including all the sensors. Works perfectly with strava. Very pleased with this once it's all setup

bukd

Wahoo are a really great company with regards to after care. They replaced my device free of charge, even though it got broken by my accident in a hospital CT scanner and was out of warranty. Products generally work well too.

buddn07

Well... consider me corrected. I'm a big sports tech fan, and have read most DCR articles. Must have missed this one!

muhasib

It is the sensor that stores the ride data 'off line cache' so that it can be uploaded to garmin connect later (and Strava), the following article explains it better than me: https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2019/04/garmin-speed-cadence-sensors-v2-with-ant-bluetooth-smart-in-depth-review.html

buddn07

I’m happy to be corrected... but the Garmin app doesn’t have any ability to record.

These on a sony should work in camera from what I remember, I think you connect camera to a laptop or PC with lens on If you type Sigma 30mm f1.4 emount firmware update in YouTube I'm sure you'd find a video talking you through it

Tired.Ben.Affleck

without a dock is there any chance of checking the firmware ver of the lens?

Edged

The 30mm got an update early last year that speeded its auto focus up, I have not used one with the update but I did find it was slower but that's been improved but by how much I don't know, going by the many reviews on YouTube it's faster but not quite as fast as the 16mm and 56mm sigma but yes by how much and if it would make any real world difference I have no idea think I've only read one post where someone wasn't happy with it.

It's decently wide on full frame to be fair, not on APS-C. I have the 35mm 1.4 on my 80D and love it but auto focus could be slightly better

OpineDevine

ADOX

28mm isn’t really wide angle

This will be a lens better in low light than the other 2. Superior image quality and increased level of background to foreground separation. Good for portraits, street shooting etc.
