These headphones are actually very comfortable, more comfier than any sennheiser ive purchased. Only problem that is annoying me is that I have now figured out why my mic never worked in black ops 2 and turns out I have to use PTT for this game which sucks. Should be a way just to have it on all the time. As for the sound quality its decent and is fine.

MarkThisDay

I would return them and just use any in ear headphones you have and put the 20 pounds towards a mixamp the hyper X is a good pairing I also own a pair of them look up the 350 se sennheiser they are crazy cheap in most places they are the older game zeros

Dan__

thanks for the helpful info :) Others have recommended the hyperx headphones too. I just bought a pair of Numbro headphones from amazon as it is a best seller on there and I needed something for now. Not tried them yet but if they aren't good then I will look into Astro and hyperx

MarkThisDay

If your in the market to get a headset get a Astro mixamp and pair it with any headphones you like I use PC 360s And hd700s I do double amp when I use the latter

Ive been off the gaming scene for too long.

Yep. Mine scratched everywhere despite being in a case.

sisqoboy2

Unfortunately that is not sold by Amazon. Wondering if they even give manufacturer warranty with that price tag

lemo

Still running a g3 here. Price on amazon for g6 is now £245.58

Lloydinio

yeah I had the same issue! I have no idea how it broke, I've removed the shattered glass and put a tempered glass camera protector. Also my lower mic stopped working.

Regprentice

I had a g6 - the problem I had was the SIM card tray is made of soft plastic. It snapped inside the handset and the broken piece couldn't be retrieved preventing me inserting my SIM or an SD card. It a fairly common issue . Vodafone initially claimed that a snapped simtray wasn't covered by the warranty - but in the end they swapped my G6 out for a p10 (they've stopped selling LG handsets).

I still think its a bit dear as black friday new prices were £349.

I got this grade B from C E X for £275 - was in as new condition with box and accessories - it replaced my G4. Traded I'm my old phones and had £200 in vouchers to use.Happy with the phone and Spigen have some nice cases for it as glass back makes it a bit slippy in hand.

Got this, great kit but only accepts a 1 amp max charger, any more it won't charge.

plewis00

Good price for an Anker but doesn't feel right when compared to the Aukey 20000mAh power bank for £9.99 deal - while Aukey aren't quite as good a brand, they are still decent and respected! I guess some people want the smaller size too... I found the Poweradd Slim2 5000mAh (hexagonal-shaped) one for £7.99 to be very good, and another good brand (I got mine for £6 about a year ago): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Poweradd-Portable-Technology-Lightning-Included-Rose-Red/dp/B00MWU1GGI/ref=sr_1_3_sspa?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1516057780&sr=1-3-spons&keywords=poweradd+power+bank&th=1

Heat777

Bought the 20,100mAh version last year. Like a brick and enough juice to power a house. Just wish I'd opted for a smaller version! (embarrassed)

diktiomenos

I got the higher capacity (6.7Ah) version of this a couple months ago. So far I'm very happy with it.

Well my phone turned up yesterday. It's for Christmas so I just wrapped my own phone. The Mrs can hand it to me on the big day. Then i'll be contacting JL for my £70 refund! Fingers crossed!

FMCHAOS

They say 7 days and I have 5 so fingers crossed! Why wouldn't they price match? When I applied it was £370 on JL so only a £10 price diff saving, but I agree at £430 it's too dear. If they don't give me the £70 it will be going back.

davnav

Hope it turns up in time , which it should.John lewis wouldn't price match for me.John lewis charging £429 is too high

FMCHAOS

Finally took the plunge. Just bought an LG G6 from John Lewis on a price match I got for 369.97. was hoping it might drop a bit more but no. And my 28 days runs out Monday. So went for it. Now to see if it turns up before Christmas Day!

FMCHAOS

I've emailed JL back and they've confirmed they will honour my price match so long as I use it before it expires. So might go for it. If they don't I'll fire the email back at them and ask for a full refund if they don't play ball.

Cool I'll have a look once my partner give me a chance to use the laptop! Having said That, I now need to look for a cheap laptop for myself... I can't be dealing with her hogging the laptop on the eve of black Friday.... Then she complains about not being able to wake up on time for work!!! I'm like GO TO SLEEP WOMAN!!!

EmperorRosko

Like Pro used to be called LimeXB360. Been around for years. They started as a shop primarily for Xbox 360 modded controllers and headsets, but have fleshed out into a multiplatform store, hence the name change recently. £149.99 for the Astro Gen 3's on there, returns but they are immaculate. Me and a friend for some and both pairs looked brand new.

DQ111111

I'll check out this lime pro you mention, never heard of them. Cool I'll probably stick to the gen 3 Astro a50 but they are not cheap at over 200 quid. Currently using turtle beach 800x elite for the ps4 pro - They are not as good as the a50s I owned (especially comfort wise). But for 56 during the Amazon 40% student sale I couldn't resist , so a bargain for the price.

Young's was a quality brand not so now......................

mk-donald

Have to agree these Basa 'fillets' aren't up to much and definitely no "Gastro" involved - though with this HUKD tip at 80p/fillet rather than £2/fillet you'd feel less conned. DEFINITELY do not OVERCOOK these - quickly become cardboard!

mk-donald

Holders of a free myWaitrose card can "pick you own" up to 10 items from a restricted range of the products they sell, as your favourites and get an automatic 20% off the Shelf Edge Price deducted from that bill when buying them. You're also allowed to make changes to your 10 picks, but only a limited number of times per time period. Have to say choosing the 10 in the first place is one of the least pleasant bits of using the Waitrose website, though they have tarted up the site recently and maybe it's less of a drag. Once you have picked 10, the best way to keep on top of them I find is their (Android) Waitrose Pick Your Own App - if only to recall what 10 you currently have picked! Note the biggest benefit of PYO comes about when PYO items are included in some multi-buy offer as the 20% off is given from the SEL item price, not any net-multi-buy price. eg actual example currently Pastrami £2.25/item but offer of 2 for £4 and you buy 2 then you get £2.25 x 20% twice ie 90p off the bill, as well as the multi-buy 50p off, ie net £3.10 (rather than £4 with 20% off ie £3.20). More at http://www.waitrose.com/home/mywaitrose/pick-your-own.html

bubbs

pick your own offers

nihcaj

They are banking on people not having a clue what it is. For those of us that do, it saves having to even pick the pack up let alone turning it over and read the ingredients! Got to give them credit for the nerve though, dress up the foulest muck there is in a fancy box & call it "Gastro! " - Hidden in open view: the fish for people who don't much care for the taste of fish and care less about what they ingest.

I have the non Halo ones of these and I get them for around £150 (Now £113 as listed on here). Great headset as the were around £260. They do use a cable from controller to headset. Only negative is no meter to tell you when they need charged. If they desync it is easy to resync once you know how. Youtube. Great deal for someone unwilling to pay £260 on a headset.

slayermatt

The way I see, Astros aren't "worth" the money, but that's when they're priced up at £250. For around the £100 mark these probably are one of the better wireless headphones that work across everything.

deleted800342

Strange, many people find astros well made and well designed. You believe they're not thought out with the gamer in mind??

treb

Do yourself a favour and buy the steelseries siberia 800 's . I have had Three pairs of astros, sound quality is great from both but on the siberia you get 2 batteries (You can swap) and theres no issues, also the spare battery is always charging inside the hub. The astros are just so cheaply made and badly designed. Siberias are just so amazing and thought out with the gamer in mind, no going back for me.

slayermatt

I just wish my G930s were xbox compatible, a good headset does really make all the difference sometimes. I have a decent set of speakers hooked up, but when you're using chat they're less than ideal.

No I don't think they are worth 280 tbh. They are brilliant but I don't think any headset is worth that kind of money. I think 250 is still a bit steep. The charging dock was the feature that interested me most, but 200 is the max I'd pay, especially when you can get the Lucidsound LS40 for 180 or the Sony Platinum for 130. I owned the LS30 and they were gorgeous, look sleek, all metal design and sounded amazing, so I can only image the LS40 with DTS will be better again.

SandorClegane

I have noticed that Astro have increased the price on the A50 Gen 3s. They are now £280 in most places. Do you think they are still worth it at that price? I was hoping for a sale but it seems like the price on them is trending up instead of down.

EmperorRosko

Yeah, they are going to allow you to buy the Base Station as a separate item, so if you have both consoles, you dock the headset in either base to sync the headset to either console. It's a pricey option obviously, but if you have both consoles and really want the one wireless headset then it's a good option to be there.

bluegollem

I believe Astro are bringing out a new base station for the Gen 3 A50's so that if you have the PS4 version you'll be able to use the headset on Xbox and vice-versa. I think around £100 has been mentioned for the new base station.

EmperorRosko

Probably not, especially if your pairing those with an amp or a good sound card in a PC, but these are a wireless gaming headset with Dolby headphone for surround sound, and have a nice charging dock. Depends what you're looking for.

i dunno if you just havent been keeping up or just follow the general consensus that they are crap but you can get 7.1 headsets, for example the Strix has 5 drivers per ear and is highly reviewed. https://www.asus.com/uk/Headphones-Headsets/STRIX_71/ Frankly it comes Down to price, but nowadays true 7.1 is more than viable and there are some great sounding true 7.1 headsets. As always. High end> low end

minicale

You don't get actual 7.1 surround headsets they can't fit the speakers inside properly and with true 5.1 surround headsets the speakers suffer because of the small size they have to be to fit in the earcup. I'd take a pair of good stereo headphones over surround sound headphones, I have had multiple and after swapping for surround to stereo I wouldn't go back the sound is much more natural and detailed.

catbeans

Thats not right at all, virtual surround sound, is 2.0 and has post processing to simulate surround sound and distance (only 2 drivers), however it is still stereo and hard to judge distance/direction. "Actual" 7.1 headsets have multiple drivers (alot of the time 5.1 plus virtual processing) and though drivers are close a good quality pair do not sound tinny and youcab actually judge direction pretty well.

minicale

7.1 Surround sound is all simulated in headphones, it just makes the audio sound tinny

rebornadd

I got a perfectly working pair of these with the mix amp for 70 quid on eBay. or you could just eBay a mix amp pro buy a really good pair of headphones and a MOD mic and you have a much better sound and experience than with the astros

Reading the feedback on the Astro's it seems they're woefully incapable of addressing the issue and seem to be lacking in after sales. No direct experience of mine, but it's worth noting. If anybody is unaware of headphones amps/dac's, here's an recent article which might draw attention to them: http://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2016/5/26/11783296/audioquest-dragonfly-dacmagic-xs-usb-dac-review I have an audioquest which travels with me to the office, and I use my HyperX USB sound card on my PC. It will transform even a mediocre set of headphones through an average source, well worth investing in.

delahmed

+1 I bought mine on day one from Kingston stall for £72. I'm sure a friend bought these for £40 on amazon black friday a few months later. FYI - My mic stopped working on Win 10 suddenly, called up RMA (which is based in SW london), they sent me free mic boom and once that did not fix the issue, they asked me to send the headset back with soundcard (I kept my boom mics and 2 sets of ear muffs and the nice box), next day a brand new one arrives. Didnt even need a receipt. Very tempted to buy Kingston stuff now (SSDs most likely next) as RMA was london based. Never used Astros but if anyone is on the fence, get Cloud II's - no brainer....

The_Hoff

If you want a decent headphone amp (who really needs levels and a DSP?) get an Audioquest Dragonfly Black for £90, you can use this portably with a smart phone too so has the benefit of mobility whether at home or not.

This version a sound card with an optical out to work with a PC, so you will need one. I already have the set, but figured a spare headset to be a good investment. A great price. Argos no longer show this on their website, but it's worth a visit. My Bristol Cribbs had some on the shelf, but not visible to their system, so work on it! Even though this set has a smaller box, it includes the Mixamp and stand and the Xbox One conenctor, other than that, it appears to be the same as the PC/PS4 version.
