Join the Android development program and download the SDK. Then contact Mediatek for the chipset driver update for Android 8. Then you can compile your own version of Android 8 for your tablet without any 'technical costs'. (y)

WOW!!. That is actually very cheeky of them! - especially after just a 1 Week window too? (IF it was something like 2 Week's+ then fair enough perhaps?), hmmmmmmmmmmmm. (That's Commercialism for you at time's I guess?). Either way, that's hardly the OP's fault though, is it ... DeLorean anyone?. :-)

ghaithk1995

Because it used to be cheaper a week ago and now they advertise it as 'FLASH DEAL' but in reality it's more expensive than it was a week ago. Used to be £123. :|

amour3k

The majority of these Chuwi Tablet's have been dual-boot Window's-Android Device's, pretty much from Day 1?. Though not all Chuwi Tablet's have all been 'built' that way, the majority of them predominantly have been over the last x-Years at least ... There have been some 'Windows only' version of these Chuwi Tablet's, which if anything I'd then say they'd have happily justified a 'price-hike' between their former, eg. Window's 8.1 Tablet's, and their now current Window's 10 Tablet's instead? - neither version's of Window's is free, true (it not being'Open Source's and all), but the arguably superior Window's 10 is technically not free, so by rights, you could successfully argue either way that it should cost more, etc?. But for one version of Android to another on the other hand ... Since Day 1, Google pushed it out there for free! (from version 1 of Android, going). So where's the additional 'technical costs' incurred there then? (via the wholly free Android OS?). I personally don't see it ... (as it's arguably allllll the exact same freebie thing?). Feel free to enlighten.

Review Time GPU is poor so low settings needed in games. Mono poor speaker Has ear piece and modem so can be used as a phone for the Incredible Hulk Android 8.0 but don’t expect any updates. They never released any before so why start now. 250 lux screen which is ok indoors but poor outdoors Stutters here and there in OS Stutters bad in web browser Widevine level ? Well you got to watch the video Split screen is very bad slow stutters Emmc speeds slow PUBG only just about playable on the lowest settings, so for gaming this tablet is a No No Battery 6 hours of YouTube. Overall not in the same league as the Mi Pad 4 but is cheaper but then the fire 7” tablet is cheaper again. Spec alone do not make a great tablet. On paper this should have been great but in real life it’s more or less m’eh.

jumpinoffthbed

No GPS on mipad

ladaowner

When it is released I welcome you to come back and prove me wrong. However Chuwi has never before released a tablet with L1 so chances of this getting L1 are very low. The chipset does not have a lot to do with L1 certification ££££ does.

ladaowner

Yeah I get it difficult to transfer file between iOS and android. I get that SD issue. And I also get the Apple lock in but android also lock you in and make it difficult to swap to windows or android. Apple has the industry stand on UI design, hence why others copy it. Wink wink Samsung and Xiaomi. Never is a month of Sunday’s is the UI on android better. I work in the IT industry and plenty of people use Mac and iPads so saying they are for nontechy is just silly. But I can see why you need android.

LadyEleanor

Well it is not in the Netflix Whitelist. That does not mean L1 is missing.

You do realise it's primary storage is a 128gb SSD? Which is a lot better than you'd normally get for this price. I don't know why there is any eMMC storage with the SSD. But consider it a small bonus along with having the Micro SD slot.

Yes, the one's I saw came with the keyboard. There were a few sellers when I looked last night. Both black and silver models. Just sold one of these. Whilst the 4Gb/64Gb combo looks good, the eMMC is low grade and makes it far more sluggish than it should be. The single band WiFi is particularly poor too unless you are close to your wireless source. And getting Android beyond 5.1 will be akin to finding rocking horse dung because this is as far as it will be updated. Somebody even created a petition about it. amour3k

Nice!. That's some interesting bit of info that. :-) Thanx.

promithius

Depends on the production batch, if its an early one you get then yes, if its a later one there is a hardware/kernel change and the custom ROM's for 6.0 no longer work. Its a gamble. I have one of these tablet, its alright, bit laggy on stock Android, if you can get the early ones that can be flashed then its passable.

AndyRoyd

S75 means the UK-based credit card company inherits the obligations of the vendor/merchant. The CC co has no choice in this; the merchant obligations are jointly and severally applicable. Example: if the merchant states an item has xx months warranty, that is what the UK-based CC co must provide or expose itself to UK legal redress just as if you had purchased the item from a UK vendor. This applies to any S75-eligible consumer purchase regardless of merchant or merchant location. You may have inverted the companies' methodologies? I made a recent purchase from BangGood and the credit card payment was made via BangGood's merchant pymnt processor OceanPayments (not a payment intermediary) and the item appeared on my credit card statement as "BANGGOOD.COM HONG KONG HK". That should be sufficient for any £100+ S75 eligibility. However, Aliexpress payments will typically not be made directly to the merchant (Aliexpress typically act as intermediary and Aliexpress will appear on CC statement, not the merchant's trading name) so will not qualify for S75 eligibility.
