There is no proof of fat causing heart disease . Take a look at recent evidence , not 50 year old flawed research results . Excessive consumption of sugar / carbs has destroyed health in the west .

My first snails were in Chad over 10 years ago, just like frog legs. They were lovely with garlic and herbs, since then if I have opportunity to eat them I always go for either. Snails in Ivory Coast are nice too, but the size of them is enormous!! And they do taste different than small snails. I ate full lambs head in Algeria last year, quite tasty! Just a bit messy as had to use fingers, too much hassle with fork and knife. I ate deep fried pigs brain in Philippines when I was very drunk, but don't remember it, wife said I was enjoying it :) It's very cheap too.

firstofficer

You had pigs brains yet ? Think it's a delicacy in the Far East. Supposed to be very nutritious. I'm yet to try it. I had live snails last year in Algeria. They were dipped in garlic salt before eating... Very juicy indeed... Kindest regards

walio

Not tried raw chicken, always cooked, either steamed duck egg (balut) that I mentioned earlier or chicken feet, that probably were two grossest things I've eaten from poultry range. Yeah I know people eat all sort of stuff, Chinese have Virgin boy egg. Eggs boiled in virgin boys' urine, then cracked and put to boil further and cost about double the normal egg. Not something I would consider trying. Never eaten rats/mice or bats. I hear there is pandemic happening in the world due to possibly people eating bats! ;)

firstofficer

Apparently in some parts of Germany they eat raw pork steak... Koreans have raw beef. Mice/Bats are also consumed.. But, I've never seen anyone have raw chicken. Kindest regards

Thank you rapid85. Very helpful. :)

rapid85

Costco online is not as good as in store because you often have to pay premium delivery included in the cost, which claims 'free' delivery. It's not and it's very naughty. For example and for arguments sake, you may pay £12 or so for toilet rolls in store whereas they're £17 with 'free' delivery online. I've taken those figures randomly but just for an example. That's not to say they don't have good online deals, they do, particularly if you're a big tech or appliance buyer. For those that have a local costco, membership to the bricks and mortor store is a no brainer if it has a fuel station and you'll save the membership in fuel alone.

ccc120

Is it worth becoming a costco online shopper member? Will it access to better deals?

I have found that 2 packs of chops and other cuts in Tesco tend to hide the poor quality piece of meat under the label. I twice had to return packs to Tesco, who said they wanted the pack returned unused and uncooked. But if you are hungry then it's hard to forego your meal to prove a point. I had a friend who worked packing tomatoes for a supermarket chain who said they were taught to put the over-ripe tomato under the label. Most people won't take back a pack of six if one is a bit dodgy. So beware of pack labels hiding a multitude of sins.

flex

Tesco own branded Scots Beef mince is cheaper and only 5% fat. Seems silly to spend more on this

chelonian000

It takes far more crops to feed farm animals than humans. Crop use would actually reduce if we all went vegan as we wouldn't be breeding farm animals who eat a large proportion of crops grown world wide. Simply put most meat eaters cause more crop use than vegans. https://news.cornell.edu/stories/1997/08/us-could-feed-800-million-people-grain-livestock-eat talks about grain use in USA for livestock. https://waterfootprint.org/en/water-footprint/product-water-footprint/water-footprint-crop-and-animal-products/ talks about water use by livestock vs plant food. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2017/oct/05/vast-animal-feed-crops-meat-needs-destroying-planet generic article on the issue.

badgerfoxtrotalpha

Agreed, Aldi meat (at least here in Scotland, where it's almost all Scottish beef) tends to be better than Lidl, although Lidl Scottish rib eye steaks are decent enough for a supermarket steak). Lidl still good for quite a few things though, cheese, nuts, some of the fruit and veg, Greek style plain yoghurt etc and also the bakery. Used to live near an Aldi and now live near a Lidl, overall slightly prefer Aldi, but not that much in it. Aldi wine and beer selection is much better than Lidl though! I find Tesco meat very average and avoid them most of the time, their fruit and veg not great either..

muon

can't believe people are still buying it. So many reasons not too.

Sonniaa

I had this on on flash deal with 50% off. Must say...it was really good mince and very tasty. If you don’t like the fat, you can always scoop off once cooked. The fat is what makes it tasty.

Sympha

People still think that fat is unhealthy? Animal fat is one of the healthiest things you can consume, better than chemically extracted plant oils.

keith.lees

The use of the term "old age pensioners" is confusing as it is obvious from other comments that nobody knows for certain what age limit this applies to. Is it 60, 65 or the age at which I can start drawing state pension, 66? I am retired and in receipt of a work pension aged 62 but don't look it if I say so myself.

Urgh, I’ve tried these from both Lidl and Aldi, gristle galore.

Nicnacnoo70

I can't remember how much their stewed steak is but the quality is excellent. Done in the slow cooker with onion is mouthwatering. Very little fat/ gristle (if any). Think it's the same supplier as the mince. Both excellent products.

Why not give it a try? Appreciate it's dearer than this mince but try chuck in some more veg to account for difference, adds to flavour :) Up to you of course.

It's not what I think, it's how it is Life isn't a Disney movie The biggest threat to animals isnt humans its the bigger animal, we're just the biggest I see you like Polar Bears, go to the Arctic and try to pet one, see what happens They're cute without the blood of seals, whales, walruses on their coat :)

Norseg

..oh you may consider humans and animals to be different, were not much different were on top of the food chain, we all have free will, lions have a instinct to kill and eat some delicious zebra just like humans in a survival situation looks for anything edible but none poisonous, animals are robots they're invidiual people like humans, a lion probably sees the entire human race as just a piece of human meat when were different people with our own thoughts. we maybe on top of the food chain on Earth but we're not rulers of the universe, we can't even survive on most of Earths mass.. I'm starting to sound like a vegan but even though theyre conscious, it's survival of the fittest, kill or be killed, circle of life Animals fear us for a reason they know we're are a threat even if we're just walking, we don't look scary, IMO the real rulers of Earth is fish since there will always be water but land get destroyed or flooded, most the world is water, we haven't even explored most of it, especially below since we don't have the technically ..well the Bible will say otherwise Oh also eating beef actually safes the planet, no killing means overpopulation, they will roam free destroy crops and fields Theyll be a lot more cow farts (silly I know but it's serious) cow farts are damaging to the environment
