One laptop would like to connect 2 monitors

You will need your laptop to have a second port that supports video out.
Some USB type C ports offer this but most don't.

As @PeacePipe says you need to check the model no. / detailed specs or user guide of the laptop. On most modern laptops its normally the usb-c or Thunderbolt port that can offer a 2nd screen output .....but not necessarily at the cheaper end of the market. Just because you have a usb-c port doesnt mean to say the laptop will support the 2nd monitor.

So you are probably looking for usb-c or Thunderbolt ports (same physical shape) in your specs and the words displayport....

Does your laptop only have hdmi or has other ports too?

Older laptops might have both a hdmi and display port output. You can get a display port to hdmi dongle for a few quid.

So really need to know the laptop model (edited)

Do you want mirror displays or extended/dual?

A display link adapter should let you do this through one of the USB ports
