Google 2023 Key Note event is literally hours away and it seems to be a critical one for the search giant, especially due to the strong competition in the AI world from Microsoft and ChatGPT.
As OpenAI was quite fast to release AI-powered chatbot to market late last year, it seems that Bard, Google's response to ChatGPT, ended up to be quite a mediocre product which triggered a lot of questions from the investors on where Google stands in the AI world at the moment and what they can expect in the near future - also considering a whooping 16% of growth from Bing and their revamped AI Search.
It is therefore obvious that AI will be one of the main topics of this Key Note event, but let's not forget that Google has also teased a couple of new product launches which will be quite interesting to see - so let's go in order!
When is Google I/O 2023?
This year's Google I/O will kick off tomorrow, May 10th 2023, at 1pm ET / 10am PT / 6pm UK Time.

What Are Going To Be The Focal Points Of The Google I/O 2023?
- AI Developments
- Google Pixel Fold Launch
- Google Pixel Tablet Launch
- Google 7A
- Possible Preview Of The Google Pixel 8A / 8A Pro
1. AI Developments
The New York Times reported that Google is actively working on an AI-powered search engine, code-named Magi. While there is nothing verified about this information, it's hard to say if Google will reveal, or even hint at, Magi. The company may want a little bit more time to perfect this product before being given a full public unveiling, especially considered what happened when former employee Blake Lemoine was fired for sharing publicly his concerns about a Google AI product that (according to him) started to become sentient.
2. Google Pixel Fold
Rumours were around for awhile about the First Google folding smartphone and the tech giant only made the news official last week: Google Pixel Fold is here and we will be able to take a first look at the I/O '23.
The phone appears to fold horizontally like a book with more of a squared design compared to the rectangular and narrower shape of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4.
Google didn’t reveal any details about the phone specifications so far but as usual leaks happen and they are suggesting that the device could feature a 5.8-inch display (closed) and a 7.6-inch screen (unfolded), basically the same as the Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 4.
The Pixel Fold is also expected to use Google’s Tensor G2, (same chip used by Pixel 7-series devices).
There are also some negative rumours about the fact that the Pixel Fold could be using a much older camera system like the one found on the Pixel 5 from 2020.
We obviously don't know about it yet but considering the device will probably be priced at around £1700 and the current Pixel 7Pro has an excellent - almost DSLR-level camera - it would be a massive let down having the new coveted device with a 3 years old camera system in its specs.

3. Google Pixel Tablet
The Google Pixel Tablet is another well awaited device as Google actually first revealed the Android-powered tablet at the Key Note event in 2022. The feedback in terms of design wasn't very promising in the beginning but recent leaks show a tablet that is pretty in tune with the rest of the Pixel range, very pleasing to the eye and available in a good amount of color options.
Google previously said that the tablet will come with an included charging dock and speaker that lets you use the device like a smart display, such as the Amazon Echo Show. The latest rumours tell us that the device could also come with Google’s Tensor G2 chip, Android 13, 8GB of RAM, a nanoceramic finish, and feature an 11-inch display.
We still don’t know how much the Pixel Tablet will cost but experts and leaks point to between £600 to £650 for the UK.
4. Google Pixel 7A Range
The Google Pixel 7A has been leaked an insane amount of times over the past several months, and at this point, we already have most of the info about the product.
We were also able to look at the brand new colour-way in Sky Blue and crazily enough, we also know the box and the packaging the device will be sold in.
The Pixel 7A it is rumoured to be slightly more expensive that the 6A at about £450.
Some of the device’s leaked specs include a Tensor G2 chip, an upgraded 64MP main camera, and a 13MP ultra-wide camera.
It could also launch with two features never before seen with Google’s budget-friendly A-series devices: a 90Hz refresh rate and support for wireless charging.
5. Possible Preview Of Android 14 / The Google Pixel 8A / 8A Pro
While the Android 14 Beta Version is already available for Pixel devices, Google will probably give out more details on the next version of its MOS, with the focal point being a greater compatibility in Android 14 for bigger screen devices.
Another topic that may arise during the event it is Satellite Connectivity which has been briefly touched on in previous events but not in depth.
Finally, Google probably won't end the event without giving out a small glimpse at its next smartphone, the Pixel 8, as it has been done in previous key note events.
Considering how often Pixel devices tend to be leaked online months before their launch, it seems better from Google's perspective to tease it upfront rather than deal with the unpleasant consequences of multiple leaks.

sorted byyou could buy a PS5 an LG C2 48inch OLED TV and a very decent smart phonephone for the same price as this underpowered over hyped , fragile tech
Then they releases the pricing and my wallet snapped shut!
Few would set out to buy a 1st Gen product at that cost(when Samsung's is already a few generation in and has actual flagship features). Google experience at mid price tier is a bonus. At a flagship tier it just feels too vanilla.
Right now the only use case I can see for it is having water resistance vs other foldables. Even then at that cost I'd not want to risk the warranty to test it out. It's a good cannon fodder device for Google to use this device to define the foldable experience (or mess it up by not doing enough updates/features). Clearly at this price it's to keep it out of hands of the mere mortals, until Generation 2 or Gen 3. If you're an early user, you'll get some extra pixel experience, question is how much do you value it.
This has the same processor as the £450 pixel. Great for the cheaper model, not so great if you're spending nearly 4x. (edited)
Excuse me, what?
I wonder who they hope to attract with such ludicrous pricing. (edited)
