Amazon saying returned wrong item

Posted 29th Jun 2023
Hi all
Anyone offer advise based upon experience please.

Purchased a phone from Amazon marketplace but despatched from Amazon
S20plus but they sent a note10plus with the s20sticker over the top
You can see the different model number on bottom sticker

So I emailed explained and set up a return with the packaging and label to prove it's their mixup which took over a week so called and they manually refunded But today I received this email
Hello,

We confirmed the Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G Android Smartphone - SIM Free Mobile Phone - Cosmic Black, 128 GB from the order number 026-*******-****353 was in the box given to AMZN_UK at the time it left our fulfillment center.

We are discarding the incorrect item that you sent. We will be happy to accept the return of the correct item at your earliest convenience.

If you do not return the correct item by 11 July 2023 , we will re-charge you for the item.

I've replied with photograph showing incorrect label and explained again, but I have contacted Barclays who immediately blocks my cards after taking a statement from me.

My son also shares my account on family so they still have his card can they take from a shared account holders card ?

Amazon can use any card in the account to fufill any order or subscription. It’s in their terms. Best to remove all cards from account until sorted.

But would that also be my son's shared account he's my +1 on the account with his own account and card but that's where it mentioned wallet share was the deal 🤝 to have a free additional account

This sort of thing happens relatively often; there's a number of threads (try search). Basically, you should look to speak with someone in authority, and they will sort it.

If you ignore, then you will be charged.

I have replied to the email stating the issue and provided photographs but all of that was already in the return envelope as I kinda expected something to go wrong
    From reading various threads

This is so bad they will do anything to not pay you back your money. I think they can only take it from the the card used to purchase so hopefully you should be ok. I hope it all works out for you.

I did Google before I returned and found many threads of people in same situation usually ends up with account suspended indefinitely but not sure if that would me address black listed on Amazon
    Thanks

Amazon are useless, I've read a lot of horror stories with returns. Personally wouldn't risk getting anything too expensive from them in case I have to return it and run the gauntlet.

First major issue ,, stupidly I'd opened it thinking it was a refurb reboxed but retained the cellophane with the sticker
Had I left it sealed and returned it may have ok ,but the more I read the more they inspect high value returns so they would see it's wrong unlike when it was picked off the shelf with no checks

Have they seriously disposed of the incorrect item? Makes you wonder of their green/recycle credentials! (edited)

They've made a right pig's ear of it. Not just for you but also for the person whose stock it is.
It looks like somebody has stuck the wrong sticker on. That should be obvious to Amazon.
Have you considered contacting Citizens Advice?

No not yet as I've contacted Barclays bank fraud department who have taken a statement and blocked all cards associated and said that should be enough to stop further payments but they may still be able to reverse the manual refund they she said call back it's all saved and they will assist
Next odd thing is the further you read into shared wallets on Amazon they can take money from a shared users card to cover account

I'd stop using email exchanges, contact Amazon CS and speak to a human.

They've just stated this morning that since I said I will be taking legal advice should this not be resolved they have now said they will no longer comment on the case until the correct item has been returned 😞
So I have found the postal address and printed everything out and a covering letter to that address,

They did this to me with a camera from the warehouse. Keep complaining and keep asking for a manager. There is an email for their CEO which may help get you higher support.

So latest update after calling the UK 0800 number it connects to what seems a Canadian call centre and as soon as they open the dispute you get transferred magically to the other side of the world 🌍 to same account specialist who refuses to accept anything but what's on the script
Even emailing proof in my case which was two sticker barcodes
Unlinking accounts removing cards ,blocking cards everything last step is account closure which looks like I'm goinf to have to do myself
But I have emailed saying my final email and all communication via post only

If you do not return the correct item by 11 July 2023 , we will re-charge you for the item.
    Today is 13 July 2023.
Has Amazon attempted the re-charge - presumably notified by email if there is currently no active payment card within your Amazon account (assuming account still open),
or has Amazon subsequently acknowledged the issue and stated no re-charge is due?

Nope nothing taken so blocked card has worked
No emails from them but I did reply to their. Email asking them to apologize or close my account and issue a pro rata refund

if you can see his cards in your payment methods section then they can be used...

..I will get him to remove his card the day or so before the deadline

Simply removing a payment card from the Amazon primary/related account may not be sufficient to prevent Amazon charging a removed but still-active card:

Cards were reissued which is what the bank advised on
Still no apology yet from Amazon
