Amazon order of SSD swapped with cheap jewellery

Posted 16th Jun 2023
Looks like it's my turn to get an item swapped out, the packaging was fine so it must have been swapped at source. I've initiated a return, given that this is probably only my second Amazon return what should I expect next? I'm guessing they'll try and dismiss my claim?

Return will likely be rejected as you haven't returned the item you haven't received.

The item you did receive in lieu of the item you didn't receive will be binned.

You will become embroiled in a drearily dull debate with chat bots, chat jockies and legislation-ignorant executive teams.

Amazon will ask you to provide a police report number relating to an unidentified theft.

You will decline to approach plod as it was not your property that became a victim of the unidentified supply chain issue,
but you will suggest that Amazon can approach plod to report Amazon's property going missing.

Amazon will struggle with the concept that the legal requirement of "passing of risk" for the originally-ordered item has not been satisfied and the risk still lies with Amazon.
(note the entirely coincidental appearance of the words "lies" and Amazon" in same sentence).

You will perform a chargeback via your payment card issuer.

    Chargeback will be successful.

Amazon will throw toys out of pram whilst closing your Amazon account.

    Rinse and repeat.

    Please stop Andy.

MOST people get a refund from Amazon for receiving the wrong item without any issues at all. . (edited)

Oops, I forgot to update this. All sorted, refund back to my account. They seemed to drag their heels a bit so I had to wait the full time before following it up, but it was all done with copious apologies and appreciation of me being a Prime person.

    Funny that.

Follow the Amazon road & get your money back.

I am yet to read a thread when someone never got their money back with Amazon despite some HUKD members claiming doom & gloom

how are Amazon, when it comes to them, delivering to the wrong address, and then sending me a picture of it being sent to the wrong address? and then telling me that it’s been delivered

Take a picture of your door, take a google street view image (if available) image and contact CS, tell them you have proof it was not delivered to the intended address - you will get an immediate replacement, or possibly a refund

    What packaging was fine?

The amazon brown cardboard or the ssd box?

The Amazon brown cardboard. The SSD isn't there at all, I've got a small cardboard jewellery box of roughly the same size, and it's got a couple of cheap necklaces in it.

You need to call them or go on live chat. Don’t just start a return and send the jewellery back.

Looks like you now have to video yourself unboxing even quite low value items like an SSD. Don't forget to to video placing it on digital scales first so that the weight is visible, before unpacking.
