TV casting/mirroring/smartview issue

Hi,
The WiFi on my Samsung TV has stopped working. It no longer produces a WiFi mac address. The TV is now directly connected to the router via a network cable.

Phone and TV are on the same network. Should I still able to cast to the TV from my phone?

The TV is no longer appearing in the Smart view list.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Anything that uses wi-fi direct like miracast for screen mirroring won't work if the wi-fi card is broken. That's a direct connection between your phone and TV and isn't going through the router.

You should still be able to use protocols like DIAL which a lot of casting uses - launching a corresponding app on the TV from an app on your phone to continue viewing something on a larger screen.

Silly thing but have you tried unplugging tv from the mains for a few minutes. Can sometimes fix issues

Yeah I tried that, I have also done a full factory reset previously and that didn't fix it either.

My in-laws have a Series 8 Samsung and it's the most frustrating thing to cast to. YouTube casts fine but anything else is a pain, drops out, doesn't discover the TV, hangs etc.

My cheap LG TV is seamless casting or mirroring from Windows\ipads\phones etc. with no extra apps to install.

At the moment I can get any mirroring to work at all unless I use something like all cast and even then that's application mirroring, not the entire screen.

Have you tried something like all cast?

I have just done a quick test with the All cast app and it seems to work. (It also looks alot better than the Samsung smartview app.)

TV has come up as a cast device and a Apple TV device.

    Many Thanks
