Tax, if they contain chocolate they are seen as a luxary item and charge more on Tax them, whilst custard creams are not.

How much are bourbons and how much are custard creams?

Think the local Sainsburys Local has own brand bourbons for 45p a packet.

Iceland shifts CC & BB at same 33.0p/100g so best to buy from there to retain parity.
Certainly give Sains & ASDA a miss as their BB is more than CC:
    ASDA CC 16.2p/100g; BB 21.7p/100g
    Sains CC 16.0p/100g; BB 21.0p/100g
    Oh wait...

Even worse is all supermarkets seemed to change the recipe of bourbons while putting the price up during/after the pandemic. Have to buy branded to get proper bourbons these days

    Sainsbury’s today, bourbon was 45p, custard 32p

Bourbons are dearer as a result of the inflation on cocoa products
