Best cookers

Posted 14th Apr 2022
Hi all, my insurer has written off my current cooker and will give me options to select a new one. Its been a while since i brought one so looking for recommendations on decent brands currently out there. We’ve had our current Hotpoint one for 14 years. Thanks in advance.

If it’s a free standing cooker then your options will be limited and the quality is nowhere near the built quality of your older cooker.

Back in Feb we had a pressure cooker explode and wipe out our old Cannon Salisbury free standing cooker. Had to rush to buy as we wanted next day delivery but ended up buying a Hotpoint which I think took over Cannon and the quality is just plain poor.

The metal rings that the saucepans sit on feel like they are made of cheese and the black colour has already started to peel away and they come with added sharp edges to ensure that you cut yourself if you need to wash them. The grill on the thing is just plain useless which focuses the heat in a central area about the size of a piece of toast. It also doesn’t sit flush to the wall as they’ve cheaped out and don’t provide a metal strip across the back behind the lid. I could go on but as I said we needed it and needed it there and then.

Yeah it is a freestanding one. Options were limited with insurer (D&G), there were no enhanced options available which you pay a little extra for. Options were A few Hotpoint and 2 Indesit. I’ve gone for the Cannon by Hotpoint CD67G0CCX. I’ve already prepared myself for the quality not being anywhere near my old one. They just dont make them like they used to. Lets see how this model gets on.

1 year on, may I ask how you've got on with the Cannon? Thanks
