Last week I sent my Apple Watch Series 5 to Music Magpie in 'Good Condition'. There were light scratches on the screen which I took photos of just before posting. The watch was in original packaging including in the sleeve the watches usually come in.
I was disappointed when I was refused the offer they gave me and counter offered with £9 as the item was in 'poor condition'. Obviously I declined and they returned the watch.
Received it today, in the original box but the watch wasn't in the sleeve and to my absolute horror, the screen is smashed in the corner, and big cracks through the screen itself! This is NOT how I sent it or how I expect to receive it!
The box is immaculate so I doubt that the watch was damaged in transit, especially with a padded sleeve over the watch!
How on earth am I supposed to follow this as they are guaranteed to say that's how they received it to cover their own backs, but I can guaranteed that is not how I sent it! Am I the one that's going to be left out of pocket with these sharks?
I'm absolutely livid!!!

Please everyone, make sure you take photos with timestamps when you sell things!!

Have they returned the watch you sent them, have you checked serial number?
Hopefully you’ll get this sorted
Safe to say i refused and was fearing the worst but luckily it arrived back in the same condition. I then took it to apple as I did wonder if maybe something I couldnt see was wrong when they repaired it but they assured me MM were just trying to pull my pants down.
However, I am in a queue for a live chat with MM and have been for about 45 minutes now, and also sent a claim with Royal Mail in the meantime as I think I'll get nowhere with these cowboys!
Sorry I'm still seething as you can tell and know you are only trying to help
Thankfully I haven't had a bad experience yet with them - I did buy an Xbox One which turned out to be faulty and I was able to return it for a full refund, so they do get some things right.
I would like to know how or what happened in your case!
They said they would investigate and asked for time stamped photos of the item before and after, plus the packaging today. Luckily I did take photos of the watch itself before posting, however not of the box/contents showing it packaged and inside the sleeve which is now missing.
Also just thought, if it had damaged in transit - there would be traces of glass in the packaging which there is not, but is obviously missing from the corner of the watch. Where is this glass!?
However last month I got a quote from them to sell them an unlocked Note10+ 512g in excellent condition and took it to one of their automated fast track drop-off points. After 'assessing' the device the drop-off point claimed it was a 256g device in poor condition and was offered precisely 1/10th of their original quote. I declined, took the phone out the device, literally wiped it a couple of times and pur it back into the drop-off point to try again and that time it identified the phone correctly and confirmed my original quote.
But the cynic in me wondered if the initial, ridiculously low offer was an attempt to fool me by hoping I'd not be paying attention and wouldn't notice the difference between £17.00 and £170.00.

Deep scratches and a knackered battery. I wonder how much the previous owner got ripped for it.
Needless to say it was returned for a refund.
Did you note the serial number on the watch and take photos? Does it match the serial number returned?
We use them at work and I use them all the time in general (edited)
If so then you haven't ruled out the possibility of it being damaged in the package you sent to them.
If it was sent insured you may have a valid claim with the postal service used. (edited)
They provide you with a QR code for postage which is insured up to £100 I believe which is what this was valued just under so I didn't opt for the paid for special delivery which is valued up to £300.
MM aren't great for recycling. They will regularly find reasons to not buy anything they can't sell really quickly (which is fair enough but why offer to buy anything not pristine in the first place?). For a long time, MM was my default recycler. They would offer the best prices (or close to it) and the trades were always stress free. That changed around 2020/2021. They seemed to come up with all manner of excuses to not complete a trade.
Sent in two Macbook Pro's only for them to claim both were faulty and one had water damage. Had them checked over by local Apple store. No issues. Got them sent back.
Only my last trade (a Fold 3) went through without quibbles. MM were offering a lot more than anyone else so thought it was worth a punt. Like the OP, took lots of photos expecting rejection but it all went through
These days I use the comparison services via Money Saving Expert

Of the vendors on the comparison sites, I have used Meelie a couple of times. The trades have been really smooth (like how MM used to be). (edited)
