YouTube are trialing putting 4K video quality behind a paywall

One of the biggest stories on reddit this week. Decided to share it here. If you know you have a 4K quality video in your watch history go back and see if you're one of those now being tested on.

See how it goes for them, I've already started just exiting videos if it makes me watch a 20s+ none skipable ad first. (edited)

If you've got the YouTube Studio App you can go into revenue and it'll tell you you're earning for normal and then the other one for premium. I'd say about 5% of my earnings come from Premium

I rarely find content that is worth the time wasted in watching ads.
If there was a way of getting rid of gaming, reaction, gangsta, or segments from tv & films (usually fight scenes), and various other crap then I might consider letting them run a couple every hour. They refuse to let you hide categories.

I haven't seen an ad on youtube in over 3 years.

I doubt I'll miss it to be honest. When I'm watching videos I'll set it to the highest resolution, but it doesn't matter that much whether it's HD or 4K. It's not as if I'm watching them on a really big TV!
