Been using mine for over a year with my Switch and now galaxy S9. Absolute beast of a battery Main qualms are sometimes my device charges the battery, the indicator doesn't light up when charging a device like the old model.

Eddy19

As I clicked the get deallink, it also shows “view newer model* option for £36.99. Is there a difference between the two or is the older model on hitdeals instead for a reason?

No1_Dave

thanks for the video confirming (printed on the back of the case) it's 99.16Wh which is literally just under the 100Wh limit which most airports/airlines impose for carry on power bank/charger.

gordi555

I made a pretty detailed review on this a little while back, should answer some questions you have.

CampGareth

Yeah, some laptops can be charged via their USB-C ports. Some laptops specifically need 20V over USB-C in order to charge, like the Dell XPS 13.

You misunderstand. I wasn't challenging you per se, but any battery being charged in a flammable bag (not case) is, well, asking for increased likelihood of trouble - even if the manufacturer says it's okay!

Orville

Yes, it was being charged within the official RAVPower protective case. Overvolt and/or overheat protection should have still cut-in before bursting into flames. The instructions make no mention of having to remove the case before charging or discharging the power bank, and RAVPower never questioned it's usage, despite me sending them lots of pictures. I also charge my phones within a protective case, and my cars battery (which is Merc lithion-ion) is also insulated against the weather.

BrianNicholson

No just about the same as the phone charger does mate, maybe a little quicker.

Yes you are absolutely correct. This works out at 134k watt hours. The maximum allowed is 100k watt hours unless you get permission from the airline which is too much hassle. I have the 100kWH which is pefectly adequate.

Oneman40

The negative as well as the positive comments enable people like me to make an informed decision. I know nothing about power banks and appreciate both sides of the argument. It’s good to know there are better features available even without any alternative products being highlighted.

aMagicalPotato

Just seen the link now. Fair play but again my points still apply to Sam. Although the power bank you posted may be better there’s no confirmation that it’s real or legit and tbh the reason people will choose this one as opposed to the one you posted is convenience. RAVpower warranty is good and so is amazons 2 year prime warranty, next day delivery and hermes pickup if anything goes wrong, you know that you’re covered in all aspects. Thanks for the alternative though (y)

yadiyada

I did actually post a battery that I personally feel is a much better balance of features (QC3.0 in & out. 20,000mAH - £22.50 on eBay. Xiaomi 2C, linked to above. Often can be bought cheaper too. I got mine for £18). Oh, and I actually posted the link prior to the comment that you ended up replying to. So I'm not sure why you are putting me in the same bracket as Sam. Because I clearly did post a link to an alternative 👌

aMagicalPotato

No ones arguing that his points are irrelevant. If you’re an active user and check posts frequently then you know that he is pretty much on every damn tech deal and always comments the same crap. I don’t see you or Sam posting an alternative at the same price point. Pointing out everything the item doesn’t have is one thing but spamming it without offering an alternative on every post is just stupid.

sam_of_london

I dont think it will last very long on AC output. AC devices are not very efficient like DC ones . Plus DC to AC conversion losses into heat as above. It may be the smallest though. I rather have the car jump start built into it , in case the car or camping van battery goes weak running the tv etc with DC to AC invertor and needs a jump start .

stuellis

I wasn’t complaining about the price :D

Protoype

This is a top line product you pay the premium until it becomes common place.

stuellis

Adding 220v AC conversion from approx. 4v DC. I expect some additional cooling. 3 times the price is a bit much but can see where some of it goes.

Mike_HUKD

Why does the AC outlet treble the price? :/

Taken from a Reddit thread summing it up “The +Nintendo Switch Dock #USB #TypeC power supply is not USB-PD spec compliant. As a result it does not “play nice” with other #USBC devices. This means you should strongly consider only using the Nintendo Switch Dock adapter only with the Nintendo Switch (and Dock). Additionally, it also seems the Nintendo Switch Dock does not “play nice” with other USB-PD chargers. This means you’re forced to use a Nintendo-brand power supply.” I won’t be taking and chances. Whilst from what I understand USB-C to USB-C does reduce the chance of a brick, the protocol they are using does not comply with regular protocol and can still lead to the switch regularly requesting a different power supply than what is required as the CPU demand goes up and down and a 3rd party USB supplying the wrong amount resulting in a brick.

ShowMeThe_Money

I have the 20100 version of this with USB C Quick Charge and it works well with the Nintendo Switch. This will PD will be even better.
