wow that went quick... i dont think it's currently instock any more. the closest one like this was the anker 10600 that was on sale for less than £7... ive been waiting for something like it for a while! gutted. ah! it's back!! (cheeky)

Any good power banks that can be *charged* using Power Delivery nice and fast? To be clear, I don't care how fast the power bank can charge things, just that the Power Bank itself can be charged really fast.

£3 more currently which in the scheme of things is 37.5% more. I have the Tecknet one though and would absolutely recommend it. I don't have this Ravpower one to compare but am a big fan of their gear. The smaller one (i think was 5200mAh when i bought it) is cracking but has been replaced/upgraded to 6700 and is now £10.99 compared to the 5 or 6 quid i paid a couple of years ago.

This is a good price

You can get a Tecknet one for a few quid more, usb C and fast charge and same capacity

Perhaps they will arrive on these shores soon...

I've seen it before. Alongside some other great devices, especially from Aukey and Baseus, none of them available in The UK :/

I bought one of these to go work from local parks. I've kept a USB power monitor hooked up to it and I've been seeing at most 0.8A when pointed directly at the sun, with less optimal positioning it's more like 0.4A. Enough to keep a phone charged and you can get a medium-sized battery pack charged over the course of a day but for my needs the battery pack had to be charged off the mains first and then the panel trickle-charged it throughout the day.

Oops, probably in the far reaches of the solar system by now :{

I had one of these a few years ago , worked well until I left it accidentally on the roof of my car charging a battery pack while I was away camping , drove away and both never to be seen again ! 🤪

Got this when it was last of offer mainly for camping. It works well in full sun, but is otherwise useless if it is partially cloudy. When there is full sun it charges my devices almost as quick as using the plug in my home.

The answer is pretty much "air travel". 26000-ish is the usual limit because you can take less than 100Wh on a plane and at the voltage these run at 26k works out to be just under 100Wh

About two-thirds of a charge sounds reasonable while running the laptop

Any idea how what sort of charge / amount of charge you would get on a MacBook Pro with this? Thanks

Price has dropped by £1 so can now be purchased for £33.99 (or £32.99 with no rush delivery) using the £3 voucher. Every little helps! ;) @thom_nerg - you might want to edit the price accordingly.

Probably not a good idea if it is the 2019 model which requires 96W USB-C Power Delivery as it will deteriorate the battery very quickly.

Ah ok so the 61w charger won’t charge it quicker than the 18w one then? Ok cool. I’ll keep my 18w charger (y) 🏻

If you use it for your phone, tablet or earbuds, the 61w will not help you, it will be the same as the 18w. The 61w will help if you have a laptop with usb c charge, otherwise no benefit. If you want it for this purpose, you will also need a decent PD cable, preferable with an e mark chip, this will be about £5-15 extra.

Is the higher wattage not only beneficial if you have a laptop that requires that much current? It won't make much difference to Phone and Tablets as they don't draw that much current. I am assuming if you ordered the 18W charger, you don't really need the 61W version :D

Ive purchased the Anker 18w Fast Charger that was on here recently (supposed to be delivered today), however this one looks a lot better and more powerful. Tempted to return the 18w and go for this now.

No, I just plug stuff in when the batteries are low and unplug them when they're charged

Samsung's are always a bit funny to be honest. I found a proper PD charger to work well on Samsung devices, but haven't measured what voltage and current they were drawing.

I almost purchased an Anker 4 port 65W charger the other day that was advertised on HUKD, but there were several reports of people with Samsung Galaxy S20s who were having compatibility issues. I haven't had a chance to investigate those claims yet but Anker is usually a good reliable brand (y)

If you have the 2019 MacBook Pro 16” then that requires 96W USB-C Power Delivery. Using a charger with a significantly lower charge rating will likely lead to your battery deteriorating at a faster rate. A much safer option for a spare mains charger would be something like this Choetech 100W USB-C Power Delivery charger that I posted a deal for earlier today. Currently available with £5 off via voucher.

Maybe, the one I'm using is rated for it but it is AliExpress. Can I ask what kind of device you're using it on?

Never had an issue - maybe your USB C cable?

Anybody having issues getting full power from these? Bought one for new Lenovo Ideapad but it's only giving 17-20W according to HWinfo.

It deffo works if you’re just charging while the MacBook’s asleep or using it doing things that aren’t too taxing. Basically, unless you’re doing something that makes the fan spin up, you should be good :) I use a similar setup with my 16”. I have one of these smaller GaN chargers in my bag and use the big Apple brick at my desk.

@sheffield788 - I must say as soon as you mentioned USB-C to barrel connector for your older laptop I didn’t think it would be able to take advantage of fast charging via USB-C Power Delivery. And the fact that it won’t charge via USB-C also backs that up. Just as well that you have a newer laptop that does charge faster using one of these USB-C PD wall chargers. ;) Thanks for sharing your findings. (y)

I did the test out of curiosity. So, I've charged my 4 years old Acer Aspire S13 with the original power brick barrel connector. The battery capacity is 45Wh. I only did it up to 93% and it took 2h15m. I did the same test, up to 93% with the Ravpower PD charger and PD USB C cable with a barrel adaptor. It took considerably longer, 3 hours. TBH I was not expecting using an adaptor will fast charge. In comparison, my new Asus Zenbook has a 50Wh battery. With the original brick USB C, it took about 2h15m to fully charge. With the Ravpower charger and a Fasgear cable, it took 1h55-2h. So, one of these chargers may be faster on laptop that support USB C fast charge, but on older laptops using barrel adaptor will not be that beneficial. Well, for me it is beneficial, as it was a matter of convenience and using less cables. Out of curiosity, I've tried to charge the old laptop via the USB C port, it does not charge, so I guess it does not support charging via the USB C.

I've used it with a Lenovo T490 in place of a 65W charger without any issue. Not noticed if there's any difference with the charge time though.

Thanks. The one I chose is handy as it has US 2 prong plug under the UK 3 pin. 8)

That would be an interesting test and if both the power brick and USB-C Power Delivery wall charger are the same rating then, from what I’ve read, I’d expect the latter to just edge it in terms of shortest charging time. Please post your findings. Thanks.

Yes but that was a crucial and identified defect/contaminant in the cell insulators caused by them trying to gain extra power density not just a random power bank going up in flames. And power banks usually use safer, commercially available cells - either 18650 or similar or standard Li-Po packs as they don’t need to be ridiculously thin and power dense like phones.

Yes I agree but that can happen with any device with a battery, remember the exploding Samsung batteries a few years back.

Most people have been fine. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen but if it was quite the certainty it would be all over the news. The worst I've ever had was an Aukey power bank that ballooned a little - on contacting them, I was quickly given a refund and asked to safely dispose of it.

Funny that I’ve had one of these for over 2 years still works great, oh and not a fire in sight (y)

If you check my previous deals you’ll see a Tecknet 18W Power Delivery that was £9.99 a few days ago. Keep an eye on that one for when the price drops again. Had a look on Amazon and can’t see anything currently under £20 that includes 18W Power Delivery which is strange because Powerbank deals seem to get posted on here regular basis.

Thanks for the info. Can you send me any links please for any that are at a good price.

You’re after a power bank with 18W Power Delivery 2.0, although you’re phone does support 27W Power Delivery if you’re prepared to spend more on a more powerful model.

Sadly you missed the deal. Was 60% off from 1st June when I've got it for £16, on 21st the voucher expired and was replaced with a new one 65% off (£14), that expired and was replaced again with a new one which ended yesterday. I suggest to keep an eye on it, I have a feeling it will be on sale again in a couple of days.

I do not know anything about S20 Ultra, but it charges my Asus laptop at 10% faster than the original charger. My laptop is 65w. My mobile is Samsung A5 and it does charge at least at the same speed as the original charger. So, I guess it should charge fast the S20, unless there is something special about S20. I do not have this one, I have the other Ravpower 60w with one port only. You do need a good PD cable with it, preferable with an e mark chip, got 2 from Amazon, a Nimaso and a Fasgear, both doing the job.

You can get much cheaper on ebay, i bought a 65w for under 20 recently, cold!!

I can’t say for sure - I guess it depends on the manufacturer maybe even the laptop - mine is a Dell and it gives some warnings on boot up but it does recognise it and it works fine, just slow - so don’t expect it to run and charge at the same time from empty. So not so good in the office where you get dragged off to meetings for hours on end but fine at home when sat at your desk most of the time!

Depends on the manufacturer how they implemented it. Some will warn you it is to low watts but let you charge others won't. One way around it ive found with dell was to charge it while switched off. Macbook seems to just charge just fine, but obviously at low power taking longer than original charger.
