Returning an item to Amazon Italy (EORI & VAT number)

Posted 21st Mar 2023
Hi everyone, I'm trying to return a Thrustmaster PC Flight Controller back to Amazon Italy. Amazon accepted the return, gave me a label, and assured I would receive postage back. Now I'm having issues with customs - it was turned back when it got to Italy. They need an EORI number and VAT number - I didn't provide this to Parcel2Go (they didn't request it through a TNT label and they have subsequently been refunded postage minus insurance). I contacted Amazon Italy and they are unwilling to provide this information, which is strange - can anyone help me out??!
TIA

You dont need either as you are not a business importing the goods to the EU.

On the CN22 customs form you should have put on the box, mark the item as a ‘Return’ and itll be fine.

So I sent it with TNT via Parcel2Go - it seemed to be the only option where the reason for sending could be stated as a 'return'. When picked up, the driver said everything looked OK and didn't need all the documents they'd printed off as things had changed since brexit (multiple documents). I had previously gone into the post office to send it, and they were wary of sending without the EORI and VAT number (they said others had been returned without it) - the value of the item was about £305.
