My wife now needs a hearing aid sadly. She has been trying an NHS one. It isn't very good. A visit to a private hearing specialist has come up with 'deals' for 4 to 6000 quid.
Incredible prices in this age of technology and competition.
I am at the start of my research into getting a good pair at a fair price and would appreciate any input.
Thanks

what is the model please Mark?
Did you get them through Specsavers? (edited)
He then paid £995 for a pair of of Advance ones and they are in-ear invisible ones and they are truely amazing.
He also got a card included for 5 years of batteries free too so every few months we go into the store and pick up a box of batteries. They generally last about 6 days each.
Details of range here
Highly recommend going in and seeing them. (edited)
This wasn't it but is interesting. (edited)
My other half originally got sent to Specsavers who handle ear tests and NHS hearing aids.
She was fitted with a unit. Giving some instructions. (very few)
She found it useless. I spoke to somebody who had a Specsavers aid and they said their one was good. It had an app which you could change settings dependent on surroundings, etc. They were very happy.
My other half then checked and she had the same unit but had been given no instructions, etc. Never even told it had an App. Just 100 per cent sh*t service. All they want to do is sell you a £3000 hearing aid.
She complained and went back to another Specsavers and was told how to use the hearing aid, all it's features, etc. She is now really pleased. Chalk and cheese. She regularly has the App out to tune it to the location and is happy. The model is a SIgnia.
She is also learning more about what she needs and should she upgrade has a better idea of everything.
The Government all be shot for letting these hearing aid sellers bleed people dry. And investaigate the pure lies and BS these sellers come up with. My heart bleeds for people that have been conned out of hard earned money.
It's basically processing sound from a source (environment) to a sink (eardrum) with a gain control. Or at most, equilisation in-between?
They are uncomfortable even after a few refittings.
And she just cannot get the sound right. Too loud or too quiet.
having said that they have now completely stopped working..
When it comes to things like your eyesight and your hearing you just gotta pay what you gotta pay - no scrimping. Specsavers seem to be a very ethical company.
Primarily the victims are older people under stress getting ripped off.

Very interested to learn how you got on - any conclusions?
