Warning - 80% Craghoppers sale

Posted 22nd Jul 2023
This may be genuine but be careful...
Just a warning to be aware of the Craghoppers 80% sale being promoted on Instagram. The link takes you to the Craghoppers website (with the 🔒symbol in the address bar) with amazing sale offers.
I bought a load of stuff but the payment at the end was a bit weird as normally I have to authorise the payment through the bank app but this went straight through. Checked the bank account and the payment seems to have gone to a lambertagnes.com and a quick Internet search shows that company as suspicious. I

Contact your bank immediately, your details you supplied are compromised.

I did that immediately but stupidly, even though the money hadn't left the account, they couldn't stop it. They told me that I would have to wait for the 'goods' to arrive before I can raise a dispute.
    How crazy is that?

What was the actual link you went to?

I stupidly followed a link in Instagram and for some crazy reason, I cannot find ANY record of my Internet history when I go onto Chrome or Firefox. Just searches I made before jumping back to the site tab.

These scams are everywhere. I am seeing money making schemes in my LinkedIn feed seemingly endorsed by Martin Lewis. I always flag these as scam.

    Just been caught at www.ukoutdoorgears.store.
Copy of Craghoppers with a 90% sale.
Credit card pending can not be stopped.
Have to wait 30 days before raising a dispute.

I highly doubt you purchased from Craghoppers (https://www.craghoppers.com/). It will have been a scam site that did a copy and paste of theirs. The padlock icon means the site is using SSL (data is encrypted), it says little about the authenticity of the site*.

(* I doubt you viewed the certificate to see who it was issued by and to?) (edited)

    Some good news.
I emailed back on the order confirmation asking for a refund.
A few days later a £3 refund appeared (£60 order) so I replied asking for the rest.
Today the missing £57 has been credited to my crdit card.
    Lesson learnt .
