I'm going to buy my son a new gaming laptop, currently has a standard non graphic powered laptop (he calls a boring school laptop).
He would like a 17.3" screen (or 15" screen) with good battery life and of course good for gaming.
Budget is £800ish.
I've looked at Lenovo Legion 5 specs and also Acer predator and not sure on cpu ie Intel vs AMD - Which is best CPU for gaming?
Any advice on above or picks which fit the bill as gaming is not my bag.
Much appreciated team!

sorted byWhat games does he want to play? 'Gaming' can mean anything from a puzzle based browser game to the best graphics consumer devices can do.
A laptop with 'lower spec' GPU (graphics) will typically give better battery life and weigh less, so what games and what resolution (1080p, 1440p, 4k) will assist. (edited)
Roblox
Roblox - VR
Steam (various games)
Meta quest vr headset (various games)
Minecraft
Terraria
GTA V
Rust
Fortnite
But of course, want a bit of future proof and not have to replace in a few years again.
Lenovo Legion 5 (17.3")
Asus TUF a16 (16")
Acer Nitro 5 (17.3")
And decided on the Asus in brand new condition over refurbished:

Above my budget but more uff than he needs but I don't want him to start on playing better games needing higher res etc..
This way future proof. (edited)
