Upvc door security

Posted 5th Feb 2023
Had a guy have a go at our front door earlier this week at only 8pm. Not the handle, locks or hinges.. but wedged a tool in between where the inner panel of the door meets the surround of the door. He managed to pop off a frame piece on the inner side which alerted us as it hit the floor after which he took off.

I realised that if he managed to pop off the other sides, the whole panel would just fall out.

wondering whether there’s a way to add security to it?

Thanks

Get some glazing tape and secure the panel in that way, will take ages to remove the panel or glass if at all (edited)

Add the tape to the outside edges or front over which the beading clips on?

Most of those doors are UPVC doors are hollow, can easily be opened, look the deal but offer little to no security. Also if you don't lock them they can easily slip the mechanism within seconds and open your front door undamaged.

Most of those retaining surrounds just click in and are easy to force open/off. You can always glue them in to add a bit more security but those doors aren’t too difficult to open/break with brute force.

Hmm have seen it on enough tv police shows. All this multi point, anti snap/pick 5* barrels and all it just folds in with a few kicks or a screwdriver wedged in popping off all the beading. Will invest in a better door in future.

Rhino security - omg that is so freaky, as Rhino has just shown up in the movie the kids are watching!
