All Bowers & Wilkins Discounts, Offers and Sale - August 2019
It’s been a year and a half since I tried them side by side but I never liked the P7, the sound was too narrow and just didn’t do it for me. It was a quick and very easy decision between the two. So I’d say definitely a worthwhile upgrade. I do love the sound of the PX but they do have their issues with comfort, seal and auto on/off wear sensors. If anyone who wears glasses while wearing their headphones is considering buying PX then I’d recommend they forget it.
No - genuinely no.
For my best music listening experience I use the Oppo DAC HA2se and PM-3. I’ve found above that price level my ears can’t tell the difference......
For my usages I can’t choose an overall winner. The PX i use for music. QC35 and XM3 for in flight use and the Beats for watching TV / films late at night.
Like yourself I own all three. My experience with fit was good to begin with but after stretching the headband a bit they ve become my preferred option. Having said this while they are the best sounding from the lot, they still struggle against most decent open back headphones, so unless you really need the noise canceling or the wireless connection avoid the segment all together.
I've got the original b&w zeppelin use it with a chromecast audio and it's excellent. The sound is superb
Stay well clear of this make it’s an absolute nightmare when it goes wrong
why is this popular? its sound was always really lacklustre when I tried it out, lots of plastic holding back the potential.
I waited too long and now the deal is gone! :(
Hi basergorkobal, these are on-ear not over ear.
Over ear so not for me. But a good price.
If you're in the market for something also in the store and can get the total over 400, there is a 100 off if you have the right kind of Amex too. There is a thread on it on hukd.
Hi, this is my first hotukdeals post. I have enjoyed using the wired version of these for a few years now and following a phone upgrade I was looking for a wireless pair and this is the cheapest I’ve seen them brand new. Considering the materials, build quality and reviews this is a decent sale price for a solid pair of wireless headphones!
Nice OP, thanks. Heat added! Also, for those who might have the Amex offer on their card, there's £100 cashback available on a £400 spend at Microsoft store (https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/american-express-offer-100-cash-back-on-400-spend-at-microsoft-3213375) If you know someone else after a pair of these, then they'd work out to around £214 each...
Nonsense, bluetooth nearly as good as wired nowadays.
Doesn’t even come close to a pair of wired a fifth of this price. Fact.
I have a bit of a problem and own multiple pairs of headphones in the same class. Soundwise these are hard to beat for a Bluetooth headset. The noise cancelling is also sufficient for flights but like all such headphones it affects the fidelity. Comfort is subjective to individual preferences, but I find these to be decent. As I fly fairly often I split my journeys between these and the Sonys.
Sure, but this one does and it's clear you are mentally slow so no point discussing further
I’ve owned a pair of series 1s for about 4 years. Excellent headphones, if only I could find them. Back up to £120 now.
I loved the series 1 but the cable broke, not to mention sharp angles digging into my ears. The series 2 fixed the sharp angles by shaving them off at the edges but it's still not comfy for me, and they sound too bright imo.
Beautiful headphones. Some of the best I've ever owned. However, they break down very very easily.
Yeah, the black ones look better, but they are out of stock.
They look very stylish, and the flat cable might help keep it tangle free
Mine may be series 1 though. Hadn't spotted that in the post
These are awesome and I've got a pair but these were bought about 7 years ago. Not a good deal at this price for a product so old. The cable also generates a lot of interference when they rub together. Be warned if you do a lot of walking or running in them
Thanks for the detailed breakdown. Will be trying some tomorrow hopefully.
I bought these when they were recently released, they really a fantastic pair of headphones. I prefer the B&W sound over Bose, and the quality of the B&W is (imo) substantially better than the Sony, Bose and Sennheiser. .
These for sound quality, build quality with good ANC. Weak points compared to the other 2 are comfort to quite some degree and ANC not quite as good. Auto stop sensors can be quite temperamental especially when hot after wearing for a long while. I bought these after trying the others. Bose best noise cancelling out of the bunch and comfortable but behind on sound quality and feel cheap and creaky. I did however love the sound of the Bose until I heard the PX. Sony are still good but not best at anything that bothered me and also feel cheap and creaky. The above is just my opinion and how I felt after trying them all when faced with the same dilemma as you. Obviously I’m biased because I chose the PX. There are reasons to chose any of the 3 depending on what’s important to you. Comfort, ANC, build quality or sound
Depends on what you are using to play your music. On my iPhone I can’t tell the difference. On my old LG g6 quad dac I believe it was quite a big difference and wired was my preferred choice. A lot of people on the forums say there is no difference but I agree with you especially if you use a good music source. These are not a good headphone if you want to wear glasses with them. The pads do soften but the critical seal is virtually impossible with glasses on.
Unsure how they compare to dedicated wired headphones - if you are planning to use these with a smart phone/tablet, bluetooth is sadly essential given the slow demise of the headphone jack. These do have a headphone jack (and USB-C) for those who need it. On bluetooth vs wired (using Tidal Hi-Fi), when on BT you do notice a drop in volume, quality and detail but that is the nature of the beast..... it is a trade off when you need the BT functionality. At least you have the option of both wired or bluetooth.
On ear headphones always do that with me as well, I can only use over the ear headphones.
Great price though my P3’s do hurt my ears after around 1/2 an hour of use.
You'll probably find that these were given free to the players as promo gear. they're now selling them off in order to raise money and try and avoid selling the players :p
I wouldn't wear them outside if someone bought those for me. #fugly
As much as I love B&W for home theatre, I found these headphones disappointing. Not one pair of headphones has come close to beating my 12 year old Sennheiser HD25 MkII, as much as I try to find one.
Got a pair - crap
(y) just bought, thanks
Bowers & Wilkins, now there's a name to conjure with! :) or have they too been chinese-ified ! Nope, it seems danish-ified ! Not quite as bad maybe
Bought these for 250 a few years ago, excellent headphones.
Just beeen into the store at Wetherby. Display model left, all other sold out. Managed to arrange for another store to ship out to me.
These are going super fast at this price. You can still order and collect in-store but no more available for delivery.
87dB - not too loud.... Hot! I've seen exactly the same in second hand shop for £249.
lol Of course. I see.
In the wall sockets. Plan is to have speakers in each room, connected via chromecast cast audio. Hence the cost of the speakers is important, can't afford £200 times 5. We mainly listen to podcasts and audio books with a bit of music thrown in. So the top end speakers are really overkill for us.
Why do they smell bad? Why are these £40? I rubbed them on me buttocks mate.
Coming up at £79.99 through link.
Is this price only available in-store (not online)?
Absolutely screaming hot deals. One of the best sets of sub £100 wired headphones around. At this price you should be wearing a mask when collecting them!
Same price I paid, £280, for my Senn HD1 wireless Pink Floyd. And yes bluetooth headphones work with the ipad Creeper.
I have a pair of P7 wireless headphones that I got free when I signed up to Virgin Media. Thought I'd just pop them on eBay
The challenge with high quality headphones (or speakers) is that they tend to be limited by the quality of the source. As they used to say in the adverts for the Linn Sondek - garbage in, garbage out :p
Owned these, I had to send two pairs back for the same fault (iffy buttons) Sound lovely, but ear cushions are rock hard. Bought the B&O ones instead, which are comfier, sound as good, but are more expensive, and I have some kind of glitch with them so it's a warranty job. Fantastic luck with these.. the third generation of the Sony's are your best bet at this sort of money IMO.
Do these work with ipad (2018)?First time owning apple device.
sold out, they must have had only one pair
So these are sold out? I can't see a way to complete payment.
All headphones of Bowers & Wilkins have 2 year warranty already "Is valid from the date of purchase for a period of five years for passive loudspeakers, two years for powered loudspeakers, electronics and headphones" https://www.bowers-wilkins.co.uk/warranty
I would get these instead: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Definitive-Technology-Symphony-Headphones-Cancelling-Black/dp/B00YSQDX3I/ Great price now as they don't sell well. Largely unknown. I paid £300 for mine a few years ago. It's what I use daily. Only wireless noise cancelling headphones I've found that actually fit large ears, other than the Samsung Level Over - which are discontinued I believe, and not as good. Fantastic sound from the Symphony 1s. Comfort fine once you get used to it. Battery life okay, noise cancelling pretty good, sound is very spacious. Was eagerly awaiting the B&W PX - but as you'll find from reviews, better to wait for their successor. B&O released the H9i quite soon after the H9 I believe, with a number of improvements. The H9 also weren't really ready. Similar with Sony and the 1000XMs - in their case it was more quality issues (cracking plastic headband). But Sony and Sennheiser are only suitable for small or medium sized ears at best, especially for extended listening. Small earcups. I guess there's the Bose QC35, likely the most comfortable, with some of the best (and certainly traditionally the best) noise cancellation - some say the Sony 1000XMs top or at least match them in that department - but they sound crap. Like budget headphones. So they're only really good specifically for comfort and noise cancellation - not for sound quality. So travelling headphones really. Which is what they've always been designed to be to be fair.
I ordered and returned these. I'd really recommend trying them on in store. The build quality was exceptional, but they were quite uncomfortable for me and I wasn't blown away by the sound or noise cancelling. I think they sound pretty natural, which can be good or bad depending on your taste.
Fingers crossed I dont get one with dodgy buttons then. Can just return them I guess!
I love the sound on these, much more natural than Sony and Bose offerings. But i had to return them because they are so damn uncomfortable!
Lovely sound, very hard ear cushions, poor build quality, sent two back for faulty buttons. In fact you may be buying them if you get these.
Most audiophiles don't use a subwoofer for listening to music, so they rely on a Speaker that can go low without adding a sub.
You wouldn't want to use them below 120hz anyway. You would use a proper subwoofer for that.
The apple speakers CAN be played at full volume and still hear your every word.
It won’t be ass immersive and these big lads always need to be next to the wall. With HomePod and specially two of them, you can put them anywhere and get great sounds, almost as great as these two big lads. HomePods cost less, take less space and can actually connect effortlessly.
Apple is the only company that’s actually pro consumer privacy and stood up to the us government when everyone else bent over and took it like a champ! Siri is the most useless assistance because of their pro stance on privacy and not harvesting user data! I mean you can hate on Apple for being Apple but I have to call you stupid when you say something stupid.
CeX Ltd. is second hand goods chain based in the United Kingdom specialising in technology, computing, video games and technology repair. It also sells new items. Wikipedia
New or seconds? CeX is known for secondhands right?
What a deal! Shame I don't have the cash or I'd be all over this
For the microphone functionality? I am unsure. They are just standard headphones (and apparently come with two cables, one for iOS and one for Android) - It appears the iOS headphones, "may" work on Android.
Be keen to know this too! Would assume not..
Any idea if these work with android (Samsung) phones? The specs only give details for IPhone compatibility. Thanks
Fantastic price - thanks OP, just ordered some. Got to say though, what a shocking store, account sign up and drawn out checkout process!! Worth it though!
Nice find. Heat added.
Cracking deal! Heat from me; I’ve got the grey pair and once burned in, they sound wonderful!
I returned a gray pair to them lol ... wouldn’t charge to 100% and music stopped when i turned my head. Good company though as refund no problem.
Got these for Christmas, love them.
Lol. Hope they enjoy them!

Now same price at B & W outlet http://www.bowers-wilkins.co.uk/Shop/Outlet/products/P5-Series-2-New.html
Great deal. I bought these not long after release for 200 and think they were worth every penny so a steal at this price. They give a great balanced, full sound.
Sevenoaks and superfi have the P3 series 2 for £99 although superfi are oos just now. Not much worse sounding than the p5 if your looking for lighter and cheaper phones.
In terms of sound for me it was either these or the Sennheiser Momentum. £ for £ I prefer the momentum but at this price this is a really good deal.
Those are nice
