I went through a phase of looking at "rugged phones" for boyf as he's very heavy handed (usually he goes through a few tempered glass protectors, his phones end up scuffed, etc). Ultimately I decided to go for performance over toughness and went for a Xiaomi MiA1 (64GB) with a glass screen protector and this "clip together" front and back case. Fingers crossed, it's still in one piece two months later. ...though he has nearly "left it behind" a few times - I joke that I should buy him a Lanyard, and make him wear his phone round his neck!!
I picked up a Blackview 4G Rugged Mobile Phone, BV7000 from Amazon, last November, for my daughter (who previously destroyed 2 previous phones, one of them Doogee - that wasn't very good). The BV7000 has survived 2 drops without a scratch it cost £112 in the sale, it has NFC and Finger scanner, and it plays Minecraft etc unlike her old Doogee.
For the price, this phone could be good, but my most recent Doogee phone (X7 Pro) lagged badly. I also had the X5 which was really good, but I'm thinking that Doogee phones are all a bit pants these days, which makes it hard to justify spending this sort of money on one.
Had a Doogee X5 Pro 2GB/16GB at £40, which worked quite well for me. Mine was unable to upgrade to later Android but subsequent production batches could upgrade. Began to expect more from my mobiles but good intro as my first Android. Other Doogees sufferred from malware in firmware or on upgrade, malware in new firmware. Ads popping up after install about month later. Only way to stop it, was a firewall but operating the other way round, to stop apps&malware on mobile contacting out. But, mine was unable to update, hence, was fine, sort of. Perhaps, Doogee have changed.
Thanks, helpful. I will give it a miss. Shame Xiaomi don't do a rugged phone. my dad is on his 3rd phone of 2018 already! He had a rugged phone a few years ago and that lasted a few years so I need to find him another but want finger print reader and NFC
