wrong! Excellent deal!

So... i pulled the trigger on this deal on Tuesday, and it arrived yesterday. The phone is for my wife and all i can say is WOW! I am very fussy but who ever graded this as a grade B must have super eyesight and done under a microscope. I cant see a single scratch or scuff on the screen or anywhere on the entire casing. If it didnt come in a generic box i would swear it was brand new, straight from the factory. Woukd highly rate the seller, as just got a phone currently selling at Argos for £669 for the bargain price of £298!!

Useful to know, thank you. Accepting the S10e has its attractions, unless one is wedded to Samsung, Google's Pixel 4a may be a better deal (when it's launched).

Well, I'm happy with mine and I paid double that. I'm surprised some people don't like them, unless there has been a dodgy batch, I,'ve got no complaints at all. I can't see mine breaking or going wrong for the foreseeable future and it fits perfectly.

Ive got S10+ and this version is £20 but currently put off by the reviews-do you reckon this is just people being picky or maybe regretting spending twice the current price on it?

May not be cheapest it's ever been but I'd say compared to a comparable £419 for an iPhone SE that this is actually a very good deal. S10e seems, to me at least, a far better phone than se in most respects. Possibly not a fair comparison as S10e is usually more expensive but at this sort of price regularly, it seems to offer a lot compared to the competition!

Speculator

Don't really see the yellow on mine. Bought a LED case to cover it. However, still using my Honor 10 as my main phone.

yoyo59

I got the same deal but I didnt keep it, shame about the yellow

Ouzoherb

I still regret not buying it at £349 , didn't realise what a great deal that was. Still hoping it will drop to that again in next 6 months, was £399 on samsungs site a few days ago with a code.

Speculator

Only a handful of people got that deal. Samsung announced £100 cashback on the 3rd Dec to begin on the 4th. By the 3rd, very few left @ Argos. I had to refresh hundreds of times and Catford London popped up. Argos increased price to £668 at midnight on the 3rd Dec. Collected mine on the 4th \and Argos honoured the reserved price of £334. Samsung paid me £100 cashback because receipt dated 4th Dec. Cancelled my Argos ebay order for another S10e but cashback of £14 still paid. Therefore £334 less £100 less £14 = £220.

Huawei and Xiaomi are your best bets now if you want an ir blaster, most of their phones still have one. It's a shame Samsung stopped including it - it's probably the single most useful feature on my p20 pro since my TV and blue-ray remotes vanished years ago. I guess they're becoming obsolete now that most people have smart TVs and whatnot.

mikeysmith10

Thank you! Will keep an eye out for deals for those 2 :)

MrSwitch

Sony Xperia 5 would be my top compact choice. Failing that then the 3A XL is a good shout, but a mid range chipset may out you off.

mikeysmith10

Hey @MrSwitch - if you were going for a Samsung S10e-esque phone (Smaller than most new ones, at a reasonable price c.£300), what are the equivalents in terms of the Xiami's/ Huawei's/ Realme's/Oppo's? I like the idea of the s10e, I've had my samsung s7 since 2016 and it's lasted well but the battery is fading out now. Not sure what I should go for, i'm not committed to the brand other than I want an android! I'm holding out for the stonker of a deal to come up, but not sure if it will in current times!

you need to click 3 times on the personal usage bit as it is a hidded feature - read the reviews on the play store. bit odd! Great phone by the way.

Just a warning, bought one of these phones in December 19 (Christmas present for the good lady) It failed completely 3 weeks ago, contacted the seller and they said it was a warranty matter. So contacted Samsung official UK repairs only to find that my s10e was an American import and as such warranty was void. Absolutely gutted, cost more than £400 and only trusted Ebay site because it was recommended by ukhotdeals

Looking for a small android phone for my wife. This seems like the only option for a newish phone that isn't huge! This is a used phone and not that cheap really. The camera is a real plus point on this phone. The battery is not great and it uses Exynos chipset which again isn't great. £409 they're having a laugh, even with this discount I think do I want to pay £349 for a used midrange phone. I don't think I do.

Ordered one which was advertised as new. The box was opened and it had a US charger, and Verizon flashed on screen when I turned it on so I'm guessing it's a North American model. Box says 970U. To be fair the EU version is the worst version of the phone. It uses the Exynos SoC which is not only slower but gives the phone poorer battery life. Needed some help when someone has a minute I can buy the S10e for 449 or the A10 for 399 from Samsung direct in uk, I have a 150 voucher. I plan to sell on EBay / Gumtree right away. Just don’t know what will be easier to sell at the best price over the weekend / next week. The S10e is 499 on Samsung but through my student discount I can get it for 449. The A90 5g is 399 on both student & main Samsung sites. Which option would you guys go for with the intention of selling. I been using Apple for years not sure if I could change over to Samsung hence why I’m going to sell. Any advice / help would be much appreciated. Thank you

Bought from John Lewis over Christmas for £449 and got £100 cashback. Plus a free wireless charger. It's a great phone. I actually wanted a Pixel but was unimpressed with the Pixel 4 for its price tag. The S10e is the phone the pixel 4 should have been. I think it's probably not the right time to buy an S10e. It's been around this price brand new recently, and probably will be again of you can wait - the S11 lineup is imminent.

bought from Argos last month for £334.50 and received £100 cashback from Samsung so paid £234.50. Also bought another from Argos ebay but cancelled and did not collect. However, TCB cashback was paid and received £13.38. Therefore, total price paid for Brand new S10E including cashback = £221.12.

Does Android pay work?

pete.bones

So mine arrived... And I love it! Couple of tricky setup issues, out the box I had awful 4G (LTE) download speed, seems to be an issue with a fair few S10 models? I flashed it with the U1/XAA rom like the guy above, and now its FLYING. Android 10, super fast CPU, screen is stunning, and so far battery has been fine. Even at the £13 more it is at the moment, its a steal, ESPECIALLY if you're like me and wanted something smaller, and no curved edges, but still good enough to last a few years before next upgrade. EDIT: Side note for anyone wanting to flash theirs, use SamFirm to get the rom (type in XAA for region, its not a selectable option) use SM-G970FU1 for the phone model, and then use the patched Odin to flash it (google Odin3 v3.13.1_3B_PatcheD.zip). Run Odin as admin. Reboot the phone into bootloader mode, and if it gets stuck on 'SetupConnection', try a different cable and/orUSB port. These were all the gotchas I got slowed down by, hope it helps someone! Fair warning, it isn't without risk trying this kind of thing, I accept no responsibility for bricks ;)

dfunked

I... Dare not? Buying a US phone from AliExpress means you've pretty much given up on warranty regardless, and I'd rather just dive in than go through the nightmare of returning it, but then I'm not exactly a stranger to flashing (phones!!!) For what it's worth I went ahead and did it (October release for SM-G970U1 XAA), and it's now receiving updates OTA. Definitely not something I'd recommend unless you're comfortable with that sort of thing, and the US Google assistant and other random Americanisations get annoying pretty quickly. Regretting not just hanging on for a deal on a UK or international model!

africanspeed

You dare not reflash anything on that phone...by doing that you may invalidate your return rights or warranty

dfunked

Looks it, yeah. But it had a UK plug in the box even though it's a US model and Samsung seal was in place, so there's clearly been some level of tampering.
