Thoughts on Vodafone broadband?

Currently on a deal with Sky superfast, but it will go from the current price of £21.50, ending at £39 in June (73mb). They’ve offered me £30 to stay with them via their website. Not the fastest speed but generally pretty reliable.

Just doing a quick check and Vodafone seems to offer better speeds at a lower price. Will have a conversation with Sky, but just wondered others experiences with them? Need it to be reliable as my wife and I regularly work from home. I also have a SIM card with Vodafone so that might reduce the cost as well? Thanks in advance.

I have no problem with Vodafone broadband. I am on 73mb but actually speed 40mb due to my speed line. I had same speed with sky. My contract finishes in May will look for full fibre got cityfibre installed beginning of the year

Yeah it’s alright, I just did a speed test.

One of my smart tvs (old, and opposite corner of the house) has trouble keeping a solid connection to the router.

Vodafone is the G.O.A.T, and if you have a mobile contract with them, you get another £3 off your monthly BB bill.

don’t forget to check the cashback sites, it’s usually good to do, Quidco to uswitch, you’ll get your cashback for using through uswitch, then your voucher for buying through uswitch

I've been on Vodafone for last 3-4 years and they've been spot on. Was previously on Sky myself.

As with most providers it comes down to what they are like in your area.

From my experience, rock solid performance, I can only recall it going down once in the couple of years I was with them. Even the router which everyone said was crap I had no issues with.

My only issue is with the customer service who when I had arranged to move the service to my new property, they completely failed to do so leaving me with no choice but to look elsewhere to get service installed.

That said - strongly considering switching to them again for a good deal, as I don't plan on moving house again any time soon so they shouldn't have an opportunity to balls that up again

Very good. Had it for 4+ years now.

My concern with them is that it is a 24 month contract.

If it’s a good service, which it is, what’s the problem? When I first joined them over four years ago, I had an 18 month contract. It was that good that I’ve decided to sign up for a 24 month contract and they gave me a good deal the same as a new customer. When that came to an end, I then re-signed up to another 24 month contract and it has been almost flawless from day one. There was only one time that I had a major issue and I wasn’t actually Vodafone. It was BT open reach doing work on a cabinet nearby.

We went with Vodafone for full fibre last year as it was new in the area and our upload speed at the time was 0.5MB
On the day of installation they were just about to start laying the cable under the lawn when we heard one of them say it wasn't live in the cabinet.
After much discussion they admitted that it wouldn't work and may not work for weeks so we had to contact Plusnet to get them to cancel our disconnection but it was too late and we were disconnected for 5 days.
We've since heard from a neighbour that it's still not fixed 6 months later.

So, if it's up and running they might be ok but definitely check! This may have been a Cityfibre issue, rather than Vodafone.
Now with Plusnet full fibre 400MB DL and 70MB UL

Wanted to go with them on a previous deal, but they twice couldn't complete my OR FTTP install and couldn't tell me why.

For that reason, I will never go with them. I suspect if you have the kit already installed they are okay but to get the FTTP installed no way. They might be better for cityfiber though.

    Avoid.

Switched about a month ago from talk talk. Had no problems whatsoever so far and got a free ring doorbell. Should be £22 per month but paying £19 as I am a mobile phone customer too

I switched to Vodafone two years ago from sky which was more off than on. Best thing I’ve done.
Constant speed and not one drop. I get 68 mg for £21 a month on my new deal. My daughter has just joined them a month ago to cut costs and she’s very happy with it. I’m in Lancashire

The thing is they are good when they are good, but if there’s a problem their CS is dire.

I had Vodafone for 2 years, solid speeds, great price (they gave 15% discount if you didn't get their guaranteed minimum) and was very happy with them. However, eventually  they clearly oversubscribed in my area as peak time speeds plummeted- they did send out Openreach but obviously this didn’t improve things so I jumped to NOW after a few months and speeds went back to normal.

I am very wary now of long contracts, and would never sign up to 24months - if things go wrong its a looong time to wait.

Been with sky for 9 yr and currently pay £39 for the 500mb package but going up to £42 but see the other day Vodafone offering similar package for £30pm with a £100 gift card. In two minds as to swapping as sky have been pretty reliable for me but could save a few £££ by trying Vodafone

This is my issue. Have been paying £21.50 for their superfast (73mb) which is ultimately going to end up at £39, which I’m not paying. Sounds like yours is a pretty good deal in comparison. I’ll have a conversation with them, but for that sort of money I’ll want at least twice the speed we’re getting. However, years with them on a pretty reliable system when we need that for WFH, makes me nervous about moving.

Hoping to get a decent broadband deal and then scrap Sky TV and just use Now TV and various channel apps.
