Not used a mouse mat in ages, not since led/laser mixes came out which you can use on most surfaces. (edited)
Surely it is for the company to provide it? Or get yourself a mouse you don't have to move

I only started today so do not want to appear awkward
Have you tried the mouse bathroom?
My new mouse from work don't need mouse mat
Have you tried a glass table? My WFH desk is one. Plus when Airbnbing etc, I can never predict the tables. I always pack a mouse mat though its s bit frustrating that they're not 15% larger and thinner at the same time.
I haven't used a mouse that 'needs' a mouse mat in years, but I couldn't be without one! It nicer on your hand and makes less noise. (edited)
I've used a piece of A4 paper in the past - worked fine.
FWIW I treated myself to one of those long mouse mats - only £2.50 in Poundland
Found you some on eBay not free it's £1.79 you get a choice of colours. ebay.co.uk/itm…OPY
