Just spoke to them on live chat.
Have up to 90 days to activate sim

Just to clarify, you still get the full 6 months of 1p service from the date of activation? Say it is 80 days down the line?

How do I put a cap on so they can't charge me if I reach the limit?

Spoke to customer service, I was told it won't automatically charge if your allowance ran out. You would need to buy an additional bundle.

Does anyone have experience with this company? Is the network any good?
    KodaBear's avatar

Network? They use EE so run on the UK’s best network for the last 9.5 years. You don’t need to worry about signal.

Customer experience? They are another brand that is owned by Now Mobile, just like RWG are for example. I only have bad things to say about their customer service. If you have anything more than an absolute basic query they’ll point the finger at someone else to make you go away and ultimately never resolve it.

A little confused here. Do you top up your SIM to pay for the monthly rolling contract (plus any out-of-contract charges)?

Might be interested in using it just for the first six months @ 1p/month but (without going through the full sign-up process) it seems the minimum you can top-up is £2.50, which would mean throwing away £2.44 at the end of the six months.

No need to top up, it will get charged to the card attached in your account.

I'm going abroad for 4-5 months and want to keep number active.

Is this suitable? Or any other suggestions pls?

As I understand, let's say for 6 months, it will charge me 1p per month while I'm abroad and I don't need to top up during the duration?

Also couldn't find which countries are included in international minutes?

Are you wanting to use your phone and number while abroad? Or are you just wanting to keep your number safe while you are away?

Lycamobile have a £5 per year storage plan for numbers to be parked for as long or short as you need if you don't want to make calls with said number. And it is the ONLY Option that currently exists aside from signing up to a proper monthly contract to avoid needing to make a call every 90 days or risk losing your number.

If you do want to use your phone, then I would probably stick with Lyca but get one of their 49p a month SIMs which has free roaming included within the EU. Just make sure you do make a call with it once every 90 days to keep this plan active:

grr, just bought the lebara sim for 49p on sunday (delivered today)

    I've overpaid by about 4900%
    Rimi's avatar
    Rimi
Lebara is 4900% better And I am serious. All services on Lebara works spot on, decent internet speed, good coverage, WIFI calling and 4G calling are amazing extras and only they worth a bit extra money. Roaming works wherever you go in EU and connects to best networks available in foreign countries.

Would never risk of porting number to such company. Even if they port in successfully at the end, there will be more problems porting out if you decide. One of my mates lost his number to Talk Home.

The features read as if they have been copied from Lebara or Lyca. And if the SIM can be activated even after 6 months, then that will be perfect for replacing my current 5p Lyca SIM.

It's got to be better than lyca?!
    Lyca has poor network coverage.
No calls go through when I'm at home
    KodaBear's avatar

It uses EE, the UK’s best network. Lyca uses o2, the UK’s worst network.

What a rubbish network. Bought this sim 2 months ago hoping to use in Spain and Portugal, but it simply doesn't work abroad as required. Internet was non existent in Spain and in Portugal it worked at 269kbps, joke! They are using EE name luring people for quality of it(indeed EE is best for many years) but they get just a small bit of EE quality, nothing near when you are directly with EE on contract or PAYG. When calling calls drops many times after 4-7minutes of conversation, so if you are on long call, have to redial many times. Signal is a lot weaker than EE directly, checked with both SIM cards. Looks TalkMobile did not get same frequencies EE has.

Talkmobile use Vodafone not EE that’s why you have a signal issue.

Assuming you will top-up the SIM. Generally I wouldn't - to avoid these surprises.

Stay away from EE or any network that uses them. You will be hit with a price increase and their network has a lot of no network areas.

Who's best to play porting dance with mine and my daughters Lebara Sims are coming to the end of there 6 months deals and we want to keep numbers.
    KodaBear's avatar

I always recommend the 49p Lyca SIMs (unfortunately you just missed the cheaper 1p ones) as it means you still have an allowance of calls, texts and data to keep using your phone for the couple of days that your number is on their network for the sake of 49p.

Alternatively you could get your money's worth and stick with it for the month (or longer, if you decide you're happy with their service and price)

I previously used to jump between Lebara and Lyca every 6 months for myself and all my family and never had any trouble in doing so.

4G is capped to 25mbps, 5G remains uncapped. Be careful, it seems they don't have a cap to stop you going over your data allowance (easily doable on 5G). You are then charged an extortionate amount for anything outside of your included data.

It's not clear to me whether these were the T&C's prior to today and they amended them and then also sent them out by email but yes, everyone who has ordered one or more of these should contact the network and cancel as otherwise I believe they are automatically activated.

@akil_mayet please amend the description as this isn't a 30-day rolling contract at all but as has been pointed out above, it is a 12-month minimum term as set out in the T&C's.

Even tho they say unlimited mins/txts they limit them to 3000 a month. More than enough for some.
If planing to use abroad, beware that internet not always working. Not worked for me in France at all few weeks ago. 5G speeds are capped from what I see; 96mbps at very best, usually 47mbps.
Waiting for Lebara 1p deals and if not available I am happy to pay them more as stable connectivity anywhere in the UK and abroad.

That’s interesting. I received a sim last week did some tests and my first speed was 214Mbps but my next 2 were 98.6 & 98.7 so you might be right about capping speeds below the 100Mbps mark
