How to contact Microsoft about faulty controller?

Posted 28th Jun 2023
I purchased an Xbox Series X last October via the Microsoft store, the controller that came with the Xbox is now faulty so I went onto the Microsoft website to arrange a repair but its stating that the warranty has ended in February even though they state 12 months on controllers. I tried to contact them but due
to the warranty issue it wont let me go any further on the webpage to try to do this?

Does anyone know how to arrange a repair or even contact them via chat so I can sort this?

Thanks

If it's like computer warranties, then it will be an estimate (the manufacturer has no idea when you purchased). Once you speak to someone and provide evidence of purchase, the warranty date will be corrected.

    Try here: support.xbox.com/en-…-us (edited)

Yeah - they have a chat option where you get to type with a real person. I had a similar issue with a design lab controller and was promised a 1 month game pass which never happened, due to their mess up. Instead I got a refund. Which is not what I wanted as they no longer ship Design lab controllers to Northern Ireland!

Oh and if you do get a warranty returns authorisation be sure to remove the battery cover and the side grips! I have 4 pairs of side grips & 4 battery backs extra due to returns! (edited)

Thanks for the replies, I managed to get to speak with a human! today and they have arranged a replacement, now I just need to find somewhere who can print it off for me!

    Thanks again

I was in the same situation recently, and was confused for a while re: the warranty date. I pushed on regardless, eventually found a way to apply to replace it, and they replaced it very quickly in all fairness. Although the confusion and the out-of-date webpages were frustrating.

These Series S/X controllers seem like garbage. I have two 6-year-old XB1 controllers which are fine. My two 360 controllers from God-knows-when are still fine. Yet there are endless stories of Series S/X controllers breaking down. If my Series controller dies again, out of warranty this time, I'll probably try to get an XB1 controller to replace it, as they seem far more reliable.

Yea it is just a bit of a mess regarding how the warranties on certain items are shown which makes it hard to request a replacement, some might say its like this on purpose!

Also I agree regarding the controller quality as nothing seems to last like it used to. I got my son an Elite 2 pad a few years back and he had a nightmare with it due to issues which were well known which asks the question why are the pumping out faulty products at stupid prices when surely they know people will complain and request replacements?

Hi Dave I have already tried that option and as mentioned above I've been on the website and tried the options available but none allow me to arrange a repair. My controller is listed and states it ran out of warranty in Feb 2023 but as its a years warrant (This is literally shown beside the warranty info on the site) it is clearly wrong which leaves me stuck to arrange a repair as its assuming there is no longer a warranty?

    Thanks
