Why does it need to be new? I imagine there are plenty of bikes available locally much cheaper than buying new. Check out FB marketplace. If you really need new, then head to Halfords and see what they have. Always best to research the models a bit first though

Most cities got bike charities to get people into cycling too. They give away bikes free/dirt cheap and serviced before. Don't think I'd buy a new bike for a kid again

As above I'd check out local gumtree/FB etc, for kids, islabikes are a premium brand that you'd be able to sell on when it's grown out of.

Have you got a local cycling club ? They sometimes do coaching sessions for kids even if that's not something you'd be interested in then you could enquire about bikes for sale.
