Miele. But it is a Miele and not a Hoover.

Don't dismiss the cordless stick vacuums; they're so much quicker and easier to use than corded.

Change fuse, check plug wiring & check flex. New switch maybe?

If it is not turning on it probably is something simple. & cheap.

Vacuum cleaners do get a lot of strain on their flexes, so a break in the conductor in the flex just below the strain relief on the plug is probably quite common. I think I've had to cut off and replace the moulded plugs on a couple of mine due to that, including my current samsung. helps if you've got a mutimeter to check continuity of course.

Yet another potential cause with a cheap fix is worn down carbon brushes. (edited)

I've had a shark for a few years now very happy with it, Had Dyson and Vax in the past and i'd say it is better than those. The claim Shark make about hairs not getting tangled on the brush bar is nonsense though. They are also pretty heavy so if you don't want a heavy vac stay away

Miele. Had mine for 13 years and it still works as well as when I got it.
