Nowhere near as fast

Xmdriverl

Yes but I don’t think it gets OTA updates does it?

currychops

I've a Elephone M3...rubbish would be a complement...stuck on Android 6 as no updates...battery is knackered...sim/micro sd card tray is a nightmare and keeps jamming closed....stay clear there are far better budget phones...I now have a LG G6 and it is great...suppose it's true in many cases ..quality costs!

Zorciarr

Definitely the A2 Lite instead of this, although some people prefer the Note 5, have you considered that?

Xmdriverl

Ok thanks. Found the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite for £125 - looks good for the spec and price is there anything better or should I go for this? Thanks

It's £195 now on both Gearbest plus Banggood and no way worth that in today's marketplace.

repocr4

Don't do it! I bought an Elephone S8 from Gearbest when they launched late last year. It stopped working in January and now Gearbest tell me they'll get around to fixing it in the next month or two because they have so many phones to repair right now. Which they won't be able to do and will then no doubt offer me a derisory amount for it.

PhilK

Well, it's the first time I've been aware of it anyway !

chrisgti

Just to update, phone arrived today, only 3 days delivery from Germany warehouse no extra tax to pay for, works like a dream, really fast and excellent screen, massive upgrade on my Samsung S6 edge. Feels like quality to hold and just to confirm the secondarily SIM card slot can also double as a micro SD slot. Feels like a phone 6x the cost, was going to get a S8 originally, glad I didn't now and saved myself £450!

Benjimaestro

Facial recognition has been part of android for a long time now. It's just being advertised by OEMs because of the iPhone X. I wouldn't buy this phone anyway, it's MediaTek trash, still runs android 7 and won't ever be updated.

Go for the ZTE Axon 7. I did. No regrets. I signed up to a 12 month Vodafone contract, a deal I seen off here. Ditched 3 after very poor reception, even in town centres. Impressed with Vodafone.

Had a P7000 for almost a year, eventually failed after being dropped, now had an Xiaomi mi Max for just over a year and the Xiaomi is a different class altogether in terms of build quality, features and the software. Would never consider another Elephone. I've kept an eye on Elephone developments and they continually disappoint their customers with glitchy unreliable phones, they miss launch dates and ignore their customers.

ellboy172

If after a Chinese phone, I’d personally go for xiaomi. Quality battery, price and reliability. Get some quality deals on here for the spec also. Personally wouldn’t ever touch an iPhone again after having one. Whole family have xiaomi now and don’t slow down like the iPhone does over time and no battery issues. gearbest are quality in term of reliability when buying.

dommyboy2

I bought the elephone metal for my wife back in April, everything was working fine until the screen literally fell off the front of the phone. Luckily amazon refunded it with no issues, I've since bought her another Chinese brand phone. I I'd definitely buy more Chinese phones but only from amazon due to their fantastic customer service.

Think it will be tiptop for those uses, as for this at £21 VS the gopro at £150+ I know what one I would rather loose 7 times over! Main reason I got [2] was the lens and the sensor on this one and the next one, that looked boring, with some of the spec was £34, if it is bin worthy and not up to par, they will be in the christmas#birthday gift pile for 2018! Plus [after asking gb support 4 times!] the little plastic waterproof case seems to come with this model & not the ele dual or ele k models, so if that turns up ideal for biking and a bit of moto x!

Mitch_s_s

I had the same with the Asus Zenwatch 2 deal they had one, told me to change to another colour but it took them 2 weeks of chasing to come up with that I've usually not had any issues wit gearbest though

flyingalan

Beware GearBest and specials, I ordered and paid for a phone from them shown as "in stock in EU warehouse" For 3 weeks it has shown "in process", 2 chasers got response shipping in a few days, now 3 weeks later I get message "no longer available". No offer to substitute with equivalent product for the price paid, just choose something now being offered at same price paid, which is impossible as my order was a "Black Friday" special price and now all equivalents are much higher price. Seems false advertising, then very poor service from this company .

Have you managed to find a camera? If not, take a look at the EE Action Camera. SCAN usually have them on sale around £50. Miles better quality than this. I started with an SJ4000 but the USB port snapped so bought one of those to try. They're a little bulky but decent enough picture quality. Ended up getting a bargain on a Hero 4 Silver so I've not used it for a couple of months but as a first Action Cam its not too bad.

I wouldn't touch Geekbuying with a bargepole. I ordered an android box with 3GB of memory and 32GB of storage only to be sent an email by support telling me that the item had been discontinued and they'd send me out a 1GB./16GB variant instead. I've mailed support a dozen times telling them that i didnt want an inferior version and 3/4 weeks later the wrong item arrived at my home. I've paid for something i never asked for and don't particularly want.

Elephone = no ROM support

patricia_1066

I use an lg g3 and it's reliable ands runs on a nougat ROM no problem. The problem is that they are inherently fragile with many stories of screen failure and Boot loop. I wouldn't pay for a new one as you won't get warranty now. But D855 has a great community at XDA so if you get a secondhand one for £50-70 it will give you a smooth experience and its a lovely screen. Battery isn't such a problem as you can get one for £6 on eBay.

After my P10 experience I'd avoid Elephone tbh. No updates, GPS very poor and internal memory divided in 2 parts which prevented installation of anything more than handful of app that is P10. This phone might be better, but I lost trust in company.

tumbleweed34

Steer well clear of Elephone. I'm currently using an Elephone S3 and I wish I'd never bought it. Decent specs on paper, but a nightmare to actually live with. Plus, Elephone's updates come with added malware to go with the malware they come pre-installed when you buy it new. Dodgy as hell.

Infiltrator

P7000 had the Sony camera (ix35 I think) and it took rubbish photos. I've moved to xiaomi now and they're in a different league to elephone in terms of hardware and software quality and reliability, and they seem to understand customer support - I'd never consider another phone from elephone.

Kenneth131

All I would say is dont expect any support from elephone for this device or its app. It is what it is and for the price its a half decent watch. Saphire crystal glass and a ronda movement so the watch alone is probably worth £25 - £30, so if you like the look of it, the "smart" functionality is just a bonus. I was looking for a cheap alternative to my pebble which would look decent with smarter dress code occasions without loosing all smart watch functionality or having a fully fledged smart watch which needs charging every other night. This ticks the boxes at a cheap enough price that I can shelf it when I see what other major manufacturers come out with this year as they should be more focused on battery life and design over features this year which will be good.

The P9000 is a brilliant phone for its price and well worth buying. You,s talk about Chinese phone as if they are all crap but that's not true, there's xiamo, huwaie,Redmond and a few others, as for the mediatek CPU,s OK they may not be as good as an exyos or a snapdragon etc but it MORE than does the job.So there's plenty of ppl out there who would buy P9000 if they knew about them!

dannimccaffrey

I have an original non flashed P8000, yep still works, but would like to flash and up date, can you post links on how to do it ..PLEASE :-) I tried to follow Elephone instructions.. got stuck with some Chinese bits, it is a great phone.

mynameisthehulk

It's not about benchmark performance, its about mediatek real world performance which in my experience is poor, it's also worth noting that devices with mediatek processors often do not get updates do to them not releasing the source code.

Theorist

Apparently the Helio processor is slightly better, but probably not much. According to notebookcheck : Graphics is provided by dual-core, also 64-bit, Mali-T860 MP2 GPU, working at 700 MHz. It offers up to 45 percent better performance than its predecessor, Mali-T628 (the one that the MX4 pro has) .. However, the Elephone also has a removable battery and expandable memory (up to 256 gb). The reason it's cold is the seller, which is fair enough. I think that'll change when they get decent reviews and you'll be able to get them from a European distributor. By the way the price now seems to be £177 - probably the currency volatility caused by the markets taking effect. Knew this deal would be too risky for some, but it really is a decent specced phone for the money.

Infiltrator

Be content? What fun is that? If I'd picked up the $50 voucher I'd have ordered one by now...
