I second that, moved parents and grandparents from Gaff Gaff to the £4 deal Plusnet offered last October and haven't looked back. Yes it's a 30 day contract but the difference in allowances and data speeds are night and day. Plusnet use EE network, rock solid 4G (where we live). I moved myself after O2 refused to let me have 4G data on my legacy SIM only deal but have since moved again to BT mobile (again on EE network) for more data per month. Giff Gaff need to Giff off

iD mobile is a cheap alternative also, which offers Wifi calling for anyone that struggles

GiffGaff was over with years ago when their data speeds became so slow that they became not fit for purpose, and their prices aren't even competitive any more. PlusNet is where it's at these days for cheapskates like me. The whole family have moved from GiffGaff to PlusNet, still paying £5 a month and getting fantastic data speeds with more texts ant minutes than we could ever use.

When their Managing Director tells consumers when questioned over poor speeds that they are helping o2 generate millions in profits to allow them to improve their network and still won’t do anything about the speeds people are getting you know they are only there for one thing. To milk the customer as much as they can get. GG customer are so loyal it’s unbelievable, even when told that by the M.D. they were still praising them only a few of us questioned why we would stay if that’s the case. I would admit before that we didn’t know how slow they were, everyone we knew was on GG. One day someone at work told me they were staying with Virgin and at the time they were getting 3G only and I said you can get 4g and cheaper prices with GG. We did a speed check and I got 2Mb the 3G got 16. From that day we left GG get up to 40 download speeds now and have tried many of the companies. We went back to GG for a month and speeds were the same.

Thanks. Will have to keep trying sporadically.

You have to buy a goodybag with your first purchase, then set up an giffgaff account, cancel your recurring charge, no more goodybag

This looks a very good deal thanks. How does the Goodybag work? It seems they take a monthly payment from your original payment card unless you tell them. I want to use it to get the £45 cashback but will see how I go with the usage so would prefer to cancel further goodybags. Will they accept the cancelation straight away?

Hmm... Sorry about that. If I was there, I'd try it for you myself (lol)

Thank you, it doesn't show me that re the dates. My order was on the 1st of March.

(topcashback deal) buy the moto g5 for £109 go through topcashback to receive a £45 sim activation bonus essentially paying £64 @ giffgaff
Found 13th AprFound 13th Apr
Go through topcashback with the sim activation bonus deal of £45, buy this and pay just £64. You can obviously do this with any phone on the website.

Thanks. It's quoted as up to 9 weeks so I don't expect an early payout.

Around 40 days or so, it rounded up to £45 after 30 days, then it got confirmed a week or so later

How long did the cashback take to pay out ?

Offer comes up quite a lot yes, I did it with the 3310 and ended up selling the phone as I didn't like it. I've never had to return a phone to them, but they seem like a decent company to deal with. They rely on their community to answer any questions you may have.

It does work with the 3310 as I've already done it, sold the phone on eBay for £39. So made myself £45. (y)

Did giffgaff fix their data speeds yet? The only reason I have ever never moved over permanently is I could never get more than 1mb on 4g.

Not been like that for long, but not holding my breath for a giffgaff pay cut! O2 might still be charging GG more than their current prices to use the network. Was going to try and get my family to change to O2 but they like the free GG to GG calls and texts for 3 months.

Motorola Moto G5 - £119 @ GiffGaff (£94 with cashback)
Found 5th MarFound 5th Mar
Unlocked (Sim Free) Motorola G5 £109 + £10 top up = £119 +£25 Quidco cashback for a Genuine Sim activation with new phone. Potentially = £94

The price has just dropped on this one! It is now: £109 + £10 top up = £119 Think that's the best deal for this phone out there at the moment

Interesting, I'd not spotted that. They are doing the £45 offer again. I think it's cashback and bonus is referring to the amount over the normal handset cashback. In face the way it reads almost suggests that you'd get the £45 on top of the standard £5!

TopCashback are offering £45 "cashback” but it lists the offer as “SIM Activation Bonus On New Handset Purchases“. I am guessing that this means they put £45 on your account? It’s not entirely clear whether they will do this or whether TCB will simply give you £45 cashback to your account as normal (which is what I thought “cashback” was). Anyone else have an idea about this?

I bought it a year ago for work and as car navigation. Battery is excellent and it works ok with Tomtom. I drive in London and abroad and never had any issue. I didn't know it doesn't have compass. I don't use NFC.

Yes it works fine with Google Maps, there's some more info here..

Now it says Estimated Payable 9 weeks. i was looking to start paying for data, but giffgaff have been very disappointing.

I'm not saying that, I'm just saying that they likely set 65 days validation as that gives sufficient time for all the deals they could offer. It's up to you on this particular deal on what it may require.

So I assume the payment cannot be cancelled before the 65 days is up?

Given that it's possible that some GiffGaff cashback deals could require future payments to qualify, 65 days is reasonable as a generic 'validation period' to cover a wide variety of offers. It's not as if they've refused yet.

My cashback only tracked at £5 and I duly submitted a claim. However I have recently received this message: Hi there, Your Missing CashBack Claim has been put 'On Ice', as the merchant in which you are claiming against imposes a validation period of 65 days. We will need to keep your claim on our system until this time period has elapsed from the date in which you have completed your transaction, thereafter it will be automatically released after 06/05/2018 and sent over as part of the next claim batch. If you notice that your expected cashback tracks in the meantime, can you kindly close this claim as soon as possible using the button labelled 'Close this claim'. Kind regards, The Missing CashBack Claims Team A validation period of 65 days?!

Update 28/03/18: the extra 1GB of data is now live, for more info on how you get it click here Any recurring goodybags starting from tomorrow (29th March), will automatically come with the extra 1GB included (providing you’ve bought at least 2 goodybags in the past). You don’t need to change your settings or update anything, we’ll just add it on for you. The team are working hard to get this ready for non-recurring goodybags too and are aiming for this to be available by the end of April. If you simply can’t wait, then from tomorrow (29th March) onwards, turning on recurring for your next goodybag will do the trick.

There's actually a thread about this Don't see any updates about the "data buffer" (extra 1GB add-on if you go over) yet.

Should be sorted now, Go Binge launch meant as your bro said backhaul bandwidth had to be sorted ASAP (via its joint venture with EE, MBNL), although EE and Three site share the bandwidth to each transmitter is paid separately I understand. Glasgow has one of the best Three network of base stations as they set it up like that with customer services there as Glasgow is Scotland’s largest city so it was £ in the bank. Some base stations came down after the T-Mob merger to MBNL but most stayed up as T-Mob had few in comparison to Three. For a fiver trial you can always port out, no worries. I’m gonna get my mate on this she’s paying £10 a week on Three payg :o

Actually tempted by Smarty (recent thread about them on MSE ) though they run on 3. Will have to check, as I'm pretty sure my brother had problems with 3G/4G coverage in Glasgow. You can keep your old number Edit: Brother said (about 3), "That was over 3 years ago now, think coverage is much better now as they were due to upgrade their bandwidth". :/

This and the fact they had/have better indoor signal, which may be due to them operating at lower frequency (haven't checked)

Not as good. Only 3GB available on 1 month contract, not 6GB and it is £15. No good for me as I am only back in the UK for one month at a time.

True. I was on board at the start. Sadly the dream died quickly. Once I was banned for using too much data on an unlimited plan I gave up and moved to Three. So much happier and it's been quite a few years now. Maybe they have changed? Ruined their names without me though. Sadly I don't think this is a deal but like it was said, maybe it can save time for someone.

I would personally just have paid with credit card. Then if they fail even outside of the warranty period you can get your money back as they are "not fit for purpose" under section 75 of your credit card agreement.

hmmmm anyone confirm please if a uk iphone will work on US LTE bands (2,4 in particular i need). thanks. this page suggests it works with basically everything which is amazing as most android phones seem to have only a few bands each and region dependant! A1723?

Also potentially £15 cashback (TCB) btw. Looks like it's 3 months

Because cashback aside which is hit and miss yours was £410 over twice the price and a lot people already have their own sim card deals thats right for them so don't need a new sim deal this is just for phone no contact
