Can't retract a vileda mop handle

I can't seem to retract my vileda mop handle. You can loosen it and tighten the bottom part of the handle but it is supposed to retract and extend.

Am I doing something wrong or is the handle just faulty? It is not a new handle and I can't remember if I have ever retracted it before but I have looked at youtube videos and they appear to come in a retracted position and you pull the bottom out and twist it clockwise to lock it.

As you said to someone yesterday in their thread, 'first world problems', if you can say that to someone who posted a genuine question, you can't complain if someone says it back to you

Give it a good American (yank) that should do it.

do you mean i should pull the two parts apart? are you sure? if this is a retractable pole then that will damage the pole as they are not meant to come apart?

i did wonder if this is not a retractable pole and the two parts just screw together but i have unscrewed them to an extent where they are just going round and round so i don't think it needs any more twists.

this is mop handle. the red and grey parts are loose but the grey part doesn't retract into the red part or come apart. i did try to pull it apart but it doesn't seem to budge and i don't want to apply too much force in case it is a retractable pole and will end up being damaged if i try to yank it out completely.

Just a thought.. Maybe it's a different model to the YouTube videos you were watching

Either give it a good pull and see if it is or leave it alone

i have been looking at about 10 youtube videos and they have different types of mop pole for vileda, ones where it is not extendable, one where it is extendable and one where you screw the poles together to get a longer pole. mine looks like the extendable one as it has the red and grey parts and the grey part is smaller than the red part, which makes me think that it is designed to fit inside the red part at some point.

i will have to leave it extended if there is no solution but i just wondered if i am not doing something right, like there is a technique to it, for example, whether you are supposed to depress something, which will allow the grey part to move inside the red part, or that these poles are designed so that once the grey part has been extended when you get it home from the shop, you can no longer retract it.

sometimes things can be very simple when you know how.

Put some wd40 on it and leave it a while and see if you get any movement then.

I have the same problem, bought this mop so that I could store the handle away in sections, put it together once and now can't undo it! Did anyone find a solution? I don't want to yank it too hard and break it, but the handle just spins round when I try to undo it.
