Can you return opened iphone on John Lewis?

Posted 5th Oct 2023
Hi guys,
How does John Lewis return policy work for iPhones? What if I buy it and open it to see whether I like it or not and then decide to return? (I know Apple website accepts such returns but does John Lewis also accept them?)

Shouldn’t be an issue but why buy it and then return is as an open box return surely with such an expensive phone you know what to expect before buying if u don’t pop into an Apple Store and see if it’s for u before buying

I don’t have an Apple Store where I live and I went into curry’s but they don’t have any option to hold the phone etc. So the only way I can really see what it’s like is to order online.
John Lewis general returns policy says the returns should be in sealed condition. I’m just worried they won’t accept it back once it’s opened? 🙈 I really do want to buy the iPhone and would love to buy it from JL as they have the two year warranty but also don’t want to lose out on the option to return if I changed my mind 🙈

It's an iPhone, they've been around since 2007. There almost all the same, bar tiny incremental changes each year.

Surely you must've have a friend who has one. Do you not have any phone shops or supermarkets with phone shops in, near you? (edited)

I’ve explained in my previous comment why I’m asking this particular question
Also, iPhones do vary (even if slightly) from one year to the other. I’ve currently got an iPhone 14 pro that I never could get a proper hands on experience with before committing to buy and have been stuck with it for the past year. The result: I’ve been using my iPhone X rather than 14 pro. So this time I do want to get a bit of a hands on experience before making the decision. There are many things that you just can’t pick up at a shop ( especially when they don’t even let you hold it in your hand). Alsoo, I’ve got iPhone 14 pro accessories tht I want to try with the 15 pro and see if they’d be usable . Many more reasons..

Why don't you go to your nearest Apple Store to get a hands on experience?

So I spoke to someone on the live chat, confirmed with them three times and they said they’ll accept the return even if it’s opened. :/

I ordered an iPhone 10 Max Pro over the phone for the Mrs, from JL. We collected it, opened the box, took it home and I set it up. Then it hit us: It wasn't the Max size! Called JL CS and with a bit of persuasion (and JL admitting they were unable to retrieve their 'for training purposes' phone call recordings), they agreed to PX it at full price for the Max.

Sometimes good CS pays off for a retailer. The Mrs' iPhone 13 Pro Max we bought a couple of years later came from JL, as will her upcoming 15 Pro Max. Assuming that the rumours of too-hot-to-touch iPhone 15s don't have any substance, that is.

The heat issue is real, It was reported on Bloomberg. They contacted Apple for comment and they said no comment!

Apple will fix it asap, as the iPhone is their most important and profitable product. Unless it's a major problem. You would've thought they'd picked this up before releasing it.

There is a 15 to 30 day delay in delivery for the 15 pro & max models in the US due to manufacturing delays and unexpected extra demand.
