Residential road closures

Hi all

There’s a couple roads near me closed for 3-4 days due to roadworks, pipe digging, whatever those guys do best and due to this there’s a diversion and the roads are coned off.

I’m curious as to what happens if you live on them roads and need to get in/out via car?

There is normally access / egress available to householders affected but no through traffic .
Also when this has happened to us previously the company working on the road/pavement provided portable ramp type things that they laid across the gaps so we could still get in and out of our driveway .
I live in a cul-de-sac and the road we use to get into my street was being resurfaced over night. On this particular day I had come home very late it was past midnight. I got to the cordoning and one of workers approached me and told me to drive through very slowly with my hazards on and to try and avoid the drainage.

So they do allow you to drive though and as mentioned above they would need to use a ramp if needed.
This would not be a problem if we had flying cars like the 50's comics promised

Yeah, except then I’m sure the council would close the sky’s for ‘cloud clearance’ or similar!
